A blast of food and culture
We had a wonderful day with our amazing tour guide, Su Li Lee. Her knowledge of the local lives, culture and history facinated not only me, a visitor, but also my local friend. What I loved the most was the food walk from breakfast to suppers, from local market and street food to restaurants, from Chinese cuisine to Malay and Indian. We had a blast.

    Main mosque
A visitor's centre is open in a separate building in the vast green garden. To enter the main building shoes must be left on the racks outside, locals even wash their feet in the covered water baisin on the courtyard. Toilets in mosques are usually free to use for anybody.

    Great experience !
The Mosque itself is - sorry if this may sound impropriete - someway cool. It is build in a surprising clear style, mainly in white. So it is worth to skip your short trousers into a jeans or so. Ladies will do normally fine with a shwal around neck and head, but otherwise they provide something like a cape. If you got the chance to participate on a short guided tour, do it ! We were guided by a wonderful lady from india (with a great vioce when reciting examples from the quran). Not to far away, you will find Hock Teik Cheng Sin Temple - a nice contrast and also realy worth a visit

An impressive building and in Penang you get a real feel for a multi-cultural society where all religions are tolerated and supported.

Nice mosque , probably same like others, saw from outside while strolling around.
Had some golden top.
You will see it while walking around heritage area in Georgetown.

The mosque is a nice building from the outside, but doesn't take long to look and didn't look too spectacular.

Beautiful Moorish plus some Roman architecture, typical of great mosques built during British colonial era.

The mosque serves the parish living nearby, just like when it was first built 200 years ago plus nowadays itinerant tourists or office workers.

Tours available outside of prayer times.

Great view & breathtaking especially inside the mosque of a nearly 200 years old property. Great historical mention about the land grab between owner & colonialist.
