Every country's mosques have different customs. No admittance in Morocco, Inside access in Turkey. In Malaysia you may (dressed appropriately) remove your shoes and walk around the exterior and look inside. We enjoyed the simplicity of the mosques we saw. The surrounding compounds are functional but not beautified in any manner. The cleansing pond is simple as there is no... More

Honestly, there is nothing wrong with this mosque besides the fact it is wholly uninteresting. The grounds were run down and the mosque itself very plain.

I saw this mosque while walking along Acheen Street. Walking around, I did not see anyone and felt uncomfortable just barging in inside the mosque! Took pictures of the minaret and buildings/houses around it where I saw some laundry hanging out, particularly the building in front of the mosque.

I stop by through several time but never go into the mosque. It is a beautiful structure in the end of street especially at night.

We were welcomed warmly by the volunteer tour guides who after dressing us appropriately to enter the mosque we were given a guided tour around the mosque , and were given opportunity to ask any questions. It was a nice look into the Islamic faith.

We've come to really enjoy this street. It's one over from Armenian, the street which boasts a lot of street art and cutesy shops for tourists. Acheh feels a little more laid back and less pretentious. Unless you are around as worshippers arrive for midday prayers, you might not notice this wonderful gem. It's just off the street and it... Masjid Acheh or Acheen Street mosque is a small mosque built by muslim settlers from Acheh, Sumatra when Penang was a vibrant trading centre in the 20th century. Praying here on Fridays can be quite congested but the feeling of being in a very old and venerable masjid cannot be replaced even by modern mosques with newer amenities. This mosque... More

A mosque built during 19th-century, by the Acehnese situated on Aceh Street, in George Town. History said it was a major place for Islamic pilgrims and their families in Malaysia. Recommended to stop by if you visit city, the minaret is beautiful but a little small. Recommended for first-time travelers and history buffs. Similar to Kapitan Keling's mosque (also opened... Interesting place and remarkable minaret. Go and see, stroll around and experience the relaxed atmosphere. Do not miss when in Georgetown
