Was told worth seeing as this is the 3rd largest in the world .... Typical Siamese temple , very glittery with lots of gold theme on the outside ..... On the inside , one large reclining Buddha, several alters and statues of monks in front , behind is a wall filled with glass pane led shelves for urns filled with ashes ... A quick pop in if you are in the area , otherwise not too sure if worth making a trek just to see this

    Very decorative
Very large reclining Buddha. The actual statue seemed in need of a good cleaning or "touch up". We have seen many in Asia and this one dissapointed. The building itself on the other hand is very ornate and worth spending time looking at.

Spiritual even if you’re not religious
Built in 1845, it’s main attraction is the reclining Buddha Statue, with a length of 108ft it’s the largest in Malaysia and third largest in the world. There are lots of other images and statues inside the hall and information regarding Chinese astrology....I discovered I was born in the year of the Rabbit, and my husband the Ox !! The artistic work, colour and scale of the various statues, pagodas and temple is awesome....even if your not really religious it makes you feel very calm. We lit candles for our family members past and it felt immensely peaceful. Free to enter, donations are welcome.

Beautiful temple with the atmosphere of Thailand.
Interesting/surprising thing is that ash pots are place behind and below the lying Buddha statue.

Good place to explore.

A very nice peaceful temple which is free to enter. The reclining Buddha is huge and very impressive. There are more than a few buildings to see so we’ll worth a visit to this beautifully colourful temple.

I found this one of the most interesting temples in Georgetown as it features the reclining Buddha and many interesting architectural features which are significantly different from Malay Chinese Buddhist temples such as the roofs and the fabulous dragons in the entrance. We were particularly intrigued by the individual statues representing the zodiac years and stopped in front of our own for good luck

Coloured pieces of mirror glass and gold shine like in Bangkok but luckily without the crowds. The temple area is much larger than I imagined having for many years just glimpsed the stupa from a passing bus. Lucky families have their own spot for their urn in the ancestral wall behind the reclining buddha. All the buildings are free to enter daily from 8 till 16, the bus 101 from downtown stops near.

Fascinating to compere this temple to the Burmese one across the road. Both are stunning and this one has an enormous reclining Buddha. Very colourful and a great place to visit and quite a contrast to the Burmese temple.

It's well worth a visit to this beautiful, peaceful Thai Temple in Georgetown, Penang. The colours and architecture are stunning with the most stunning being the size of the reclining Buddha. The mosaic dragons and other statues are also impressive.

The traditional achitecture of the temple stands out so vividly against the background of the town's tall, glass buildings.

The golden Buddha reclining in leisure pose is a sight to behold. The approx 100ft length. The feet soles are engraved with scriptures. The complex has multiple temple structures and statues. Just can't get enough of them, beautiful-calm-carved sculptures. Gold & hues of gold

I've been here before, and yet I'm inclined to visit again. For whatever reason, I'm unsure of - but whenever I do visit (perhaps when I happen to be nearby the area), there's always a cool and calming vibe to the place. And the area is large enough to accommodate big crowds (which doesn't happen often). Be sure to visit the temple just in front of here, as well.
