There are monkeys and they are the highlight. If you are absolutely bored and have your own transportation or can afford a taxi, then perhaps taking a walk through this park will please you. I expected much more from the title.. and the bus ride to get here was long and painful.

We visited the botanical gardens on 30th November 16 and enjoyed ourselves although went midday so was quite warm but we were lucky there were clouds to cover us slightly. We took the Number 10 bus from Komtar bus station and cost us 2RM for a one way ticket. The botanical gardens is the last stop on this bus but... More

The gardens were okay. Called in after we went up the hill. They aren't maintained that well. Not terrible but not fantastic. On the plus side there are a heap of monkeys around

Nice botanical gardens with some very interesting trees, such as the cannonball tree.... Really weird lol. We enjoy a lovely walk and were able to watch the monkeys capering about!

This is by far the nicest spot to a casual walk. No admission fees and the air is remarkably fresh and pollution free ! Take a casual walk but mind the wild monkeys. Plenty of monkeys foraging and asking for food. Try not to feed them as all of it will come towards you if you start feeding one! Look... More

Lovely place to hang out and see monkeys and gorgeous flowers, cacti and jungle. Free and relatively quiet.

Good activity for Families n corporates who want the fresh outdoors. Activity is free and set amidst natural backdrop compared to spore botanic gardens in the city...

Mostly in the sun so make sure you wear a hat and take an umbrella. Relaxing walk through the gardens but the highlight for me was the monkeys. Took the public bus there and back which took longer than I would've liked.

overall it is quite a lushy garden. some ponds at the front. not particular a must-do while in Penang as it is quite out of the way. the only local bus does not run on a regular time table. we waited an hour for the bus number 10. it is free admission but being tourist, we paid 3 times the... Shame, the Gardens used to be so much nicer. Now they are worn out, looking very forlorn, wasting away, and choked with rubbish. Very sad. Visitors feed the monkeys, making them habituated and aggressive. So sad to see.
