We booked our 3D2N trip with Mr Aji whose reviews seemed to be consistently good. We weren't disappointed. We were picked up and returned to Sepilok. First day we were on the river 2.30 - 6.00, followed by a night walk in the jungle. Second day started with a 1.5 hour walk in the jungle, then breakfast and quiet time.... More

This slow brown river the longest in Sabah is host to lots of wildlife, including all 8 species of hornbill, orangutans , red and silver leaf , baboons and proboscis monkeys as well as Pygmy elephants and any host of smaller bugs , snakes and insects. Sunrise and sunset river trips are a must .

We spent two nights at the Abai Lodge on the side of the river with an evening cruise on the day of our arrival, an early morning one the next day followed by tree planting then a late afternoon cruise. We were four in our party and lucky enough to have a private guide and boat captain with us. They... More

we had the most wonderful experience travelling for four days on the Kinabatangan river and staying at Abai lodge. We have had many guides but I can honestly say that SI tours have struck gold with Basri, he is the most well mannered and knowlegable guide we have ever had and nothing was too much trouble. We saw pygmy Elephants,... More

We went through S.I tours, originally booked through Kuoni UK. It was incredible. We almost immediately spotted 2 proboscis monkeys. The guidebus assured us there would be more. He was correct. In all we saw 2 female orangutans, both with babies, a crocodile, proboscis monkeys, long tailed macaques, pig tailed macaques, grey leaf monkeys, a snake, numerous birds of prey,... More

the colour of the river water is dark yellow, it looked really different from what we normally see it in other state in peninsular. I don't think that people are allowed to go in to the river as it is really turbid and might stain your shirt.

The Kinabatangan river is really interesting, there are many tours/lodges to choose from and we chose the wrong one. We booked a 3 day 2 night trip with Mr Aji which was the only mistake of our 2 month trip to Malaysia. The logistics of pick up, email communication were fine but the b & b we stayed in was... More

We organised this 5 day river trip through S.I. Tours and they were brilliant. We were promptly met at our hotel and taken to the jetty where we were transported by boat across the wide bay to the river. We had the best guide ever. Basri- he knew so much and could spot so much that we were astounded. This... More

In my two trips to the area on river cruises I have seen snakes with full bellies, a large heard of pigmy elephants, big and baby crocodiles, proboscis monkeys and many others. Well worth a trip on an open river boat. Warning remember a rain poncho as it is the rainforest after all.

The River Safari is very enjoyable (2 to 2& half hours) we saw alot of common monkeys grooming each other. You would really need binoculars to get a good look at the Proboscus monkeys, they stayed really high up in the trees. No luck with spotting Orang utans that day, nor Pygmy elephants. No crocs but did see a sign... More
