When you arrive at the ferry terminal there are booking agents for the boats numbered 1-12+. Under no circumstances should you use no3. They are slightly cheaper than the others but they are unreliable. A couple of days ago we were stranded for 3 hours and no boat came to collect us with small children. This is a really shoddy operation and my adi d would be donāt do it - go with another provider instead

Jesselton Point serves as the main gateway for boat departures to the nearby islands of Kota Kinabalu. The terminal is perpetually bustling, its operations hindered by the presence of numerous competing private operators vying for customers. This lack of centralized organization means each operator must fill a boat with at least eight passengers before setting off, potentially leading to lengthy waitsāon one occasion, we waited as long as 45 minutes. Similarly, the return trips are marred by variable departure times dependent on immediate circumstances. After two days grappling with this system, we opted for the Sutera Harbor terminal, accessible via a brief 5-minute Grab ride. While slightly pricier, Sutera Harbor offers a more streamlined experience with fixed departure times, eliminating the delays and uncertainty we faced at Jesselton Point.

Jesselton Point is where you go to get boats out to the islands of Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park. It is a busy and at times chaotic place with food stalls an souvenir shops. We visited several times to book tickets, buy souvenirs, use the ATM and buy snacks. As there are a number of different businesses that provide trips to the island, I would recommend going the afternoon of the day before the proposed travel to book in advance. Then you simply attend the relevant counter of the business you're travelling with a they guide you from there. I have heard that some travellers found the process confusing but it was pretty straight forward and definitely doable if you don't want to pay the price of an all inclusive tour.

it's the port, where all the boats going to the different islands and Kota Kinabalu have their fairies part. There is a main center worry and buy your tickets for these chores in different kiosk, offering different prizes and stores. It is very crowded and usually it's packed from eight in the morning till three in the afternoon for all the tourist go back from the islands to the city.

Itās a confusing place as it is basically like a train station with different companies selling tickets for the same thing. In the end I went with the first company which came up to me which is very unlike me but my quick assessment of the place was that they were all the same.
On reflection I wish I had looked into it a bit more. It is a bit confusing when you are desperate to get that last boat home at 430 but we did get back and I got the impression that they all work as a team if they need to

Jesselton was what Kota Kinabalu was once named. And this famous port and sea terminal is still named after what the city used to be called. It is worth visiting mainly as it is a landmark in KK. And you can walk seaside and get great views of the South China Sea.

Dont use counter 12. No boat after even almost 2 hours wait. Even getting the life jacket n snorkelling mask was chaotic. Everyone else seem to be getting on their designated boat especially foreigners. C12 dont seem to have good running operations. AVOID.

Utilitarian jetty with a hall selling tickets for island tours. We decided to give the island tours a miss based on the reviews of poor water quality, rubbish & poor service quality of boat operators.
We did take a 20min stroll after dinner to catch the sea breeze. We also catch some action from a soccer match in the adjacent indoor sports hall.

As we were on our way to Jesselton Point, we were stopped by other men with a boat and made the mistake of using them. The boat was dirty, there were no life jackets and it kept stalling. They never came back for us, so we ended up using the Rainbow Sunshine (or Happy Rainbow) company to head back - they were professional and terrific. Don't fall for what we did - use a reputable company at Jesselton Point!

Convenient and a one stop centre for islands in Sabah. Drop by Jesselton Point jetty, pick your package and choose your booth. We decided to pay Manukan Island a visit and had a bbq lunch there.

Hi, we are going to Manukan Island, is this the only jetty that can bring us there? How much is the fee per pax for one way?
Written 24 June 2019
Jesselton Point offers island transfer service to Manukan, Mamutik, Sapi, Sulug and Gaya Island. The service starts from 8.30am and ends at 4.15pm. The journey will take 20 to 30 minutes to reach destination from this jetty. Currently 9 operators running the service.
You may google for more information on the operators and can email them if you have further queries.

Can i know is it easy to get grab driver from jesselton point to kk?
Written 2 January 2019
Very easy......cab drivers should be around the main gateway to Jesselton Point. But Jesselton Point is only about 500m from Central KK.....so walking is easy.
Written 3 January 2019
is there a place to store our luggage while we go island hopping? because iāll arrive in KKIA at 8am and want to directly go to jesselton point.
Written 23 July 2018
I would really recommend taking your luggage to your hotel rather.

From Jesselton Point jetty, you can go with any of a number of companies. My experience has been that they all charge about the same, and get you there at the same speed. (they will always lie and say "leaving in 1/2 hour" - it can take up to an hour to leave the jetty - just keep asking the person on the jetty from the company whose ticket you hold). The boat will have a person who gives you a quick welcome to the island and confirms your pick up time, but there aren't really guides that stay with you.
