Kota Kinabalu City Bird Sanctuary or KKCBS is a haven for wildlife right in the heart of the city. This 24-hectare patch of mangrove forest is the only remaining patch of an extensive mangrove forest that once existed around the coastal town of Kota Kinabalu.

We went here after the Batu Caves and I wouldn't recommend it to be honest. All birds are in cages, not free flying. After 30 minutes I was ready to leave. Am sad to say but would not recommend this.

A great idea, but such an unfortunate end. Many years ago, this was a great tourist destination. However, over the years, the lack of funding and care for this sanctuary has left this place devoid of anything beautiful. There are hardly any birds in the...More

Went for a quick visit in the morning before departure, muddy and barely saw any birds. Might be the season but I wasn't impressed. Then again, tickets were cheap.

Nice and tranquil place but it is poorly managed! Place looks quite run down, insufficient information given. Might have came at a wrong wrong time (afternoon) because there was no wildlife at all! Wooden walkway ends halfway which descends into a muddy trail which is...More
