We recently returned from a wonderful tour of beautiful Sabah. A complex compact itinerary that included several sites, accommodation, transport & flights. Everything went smoothly as planned without a hitch. Kudos to Ms Daisy Chong who was always with us through WhatsApp if needed, many thanks for all the small things that came up & your rapid response, it's really admirable. The team that accompanied us all the time was exceptional Waty, Martin, John, Aman & Stephany, not forgetting the Lodge staff.
Highly recommend Outback Venture if you wish to explore beautiful Sabah.

Daisy assisted us from the beginning till the very end. When we checked 5 weeks ago, there were only a slot left and after enquiring, we managed to secure 2 slots but my friend was pending his leave approval. Daisy kindly hold on to the reservation and did not pressure us to make a deposit or anything.
Eventually, we confirmed the trip and we got the itinerary for our detailed 2D1N Mount Kinabalu via Ferrata days before the trip. It was well coordinated, driver arranged was on time, we had a guide who looked out for us throughout and he paced us well to ensure we reach the summit on time and get down for via ferrata route before cut off time.
We had a great time and will definitely recommend friends to book through Outback Venture. Million thanks, Daisy!

warm hospitality at sinua tainiskon lodge at c1 by Dennis, Shed is a nice start.
we started trekking to c2 early at 7.30am. I enjoyed the wilderness, huge diptercarp trees, flowers, fungi along the way. we also spotted footprints of wild boar, civet and barking deer. I felt humble yet honored... having lunch in the jungle was yummy, let alone well prepared dinner at c2 by jap.
it was cold at night, so a blanket or sleeping bag is needed.
the milky way at c2 and peak2 is stunning. the sunrise at the top is breathtaking.
we started climbing to the top at midnight and reached there by 5.30am.
climbing from c2 to peak1, peak2 and the tower in the dark was challenging but fun. there are many steep 90degree ladder climbing, which is not difficult, but stepping up/down on slippery, muddy roots is harder.
pitcher plants are plenty and amazing. n. trusmadiensis, endemic to trusmadi is natural hybrid of n. lowii and n. macrophylla....another nature wonder, beautiful creation.
I am fortunate to be the only person up there, with patient guide, caring porter, and talented cook.

From beginning to end, our experience with Outback Venture was great.
Starting from our planning phase back at home, Daisy from Outback Venture would always reply our questions in detail within 24 hours. This while other travel agencies in Kota Kinabalu took days to reply, and sometimes did not reply at all. Daisy stayed very patient with us, even though we changed our mind several times. When we were unable to make our planned tour due to flight delays, she came to our hotel to meet us in person in order to reschedule the tour for the next day.
We went on a 3 Day - 2 Night jungle hike close to Kota Kinabalu. The pick-up was great and so was the food which was prepared for us each day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).
The first day we did the Aura Montoria jungle hike, which took us around 5 hours. The hike itself is stunning and offers many different views of the jungle, waterfalls, caves, and cliffs. We even did some cliff diving. At the end of the day we stayed in a local garden lodge. This hike was absolutely stunning.
The second day, we did the Kowatuan trail (10 waterfalls) and camped in the jungle. The hike itself up the hill is nice but less impressive compared to the Aura Montoria jungle hike we did the day before. That being said, the huge jungle waterfall at the end of the trail located in the primary jungle makes it all worth it. It is an amazing experience to swim in the jungle and stand beneath the waterfall! This hike is rather short and took is around 3 hours. We were back at the jungle camp around 1 pm for lunch. Normally, you'd have free time in the afternoon to swim near the campsite and the 2 waterfalls located directly next to it but, unfortunately for us, it was raining the entire afternoon so we did not have much to do besides sitting under the roof, watching the jungle, and building a fire. At night, you can do star gazing which, unfortunately for us, also was not an option due to the rain which continued until 5 am the next day. We camped in a tent that night, close to the waterfall. This is a nice experience, however, for me (being 1.9m tall) the tent was a bit too small. This in combination with the rain (wet/humid tent) did not result in a very comfortable night but I guess that's something that can be expected when camping deep in the jungle.
Throughout the entire trip, we had a great guide. He spoke English very well, was very friendly, and had lots to tell about the local flora and fauna. His wife even prepared the packed lunch for us on the first day- which was delicious. At the end of the trip, he showed us around in his village and own house and farm where he gave us some locally grown fruits to take with us back to our hotel in Kota Kinabalu. It was also great to find out that a part of the money spent on the tour is actually donated to the local community and village.
The third day, we were picked up by Jean who brought us back to the city. Again, a very comfortable and friendly experience. She shared many stories with us about Sabah and told us many things about the local history, culture, and things to do around the city.
All-in-all we had a great experience and a trip that we will never forget. We realized during our trip that the areas we visited and trails we hiked are not very popular amount foreign tourists. During our 3 day trip, we did not run into a single other tourist (foreign or domestic). Especially the Aura Montoria jungle trek is absolutely stunning and if you are still looking for something to do close to Kota Kinabalu (around 3h drive), then this is highly recommended!

From the very beginning Daisy was so responsive and really helpful with all the questions that I had. Everything was organised for us from the transfer to the guide to the via Ferrata activity. The experience was great and our guide Devron was super helpful and patient with us as well. Jean who took us there and back was so friendly and even gave us more insights and history into Sabah. Would recommend booking with this company !!!

I contacted about 10 different Tour companies for my trip to Malaysia and this company was the quickest to respond, the most adorable and the most accommodating. This was the only tour company that would accommodate my particular plans and hotel choices. My sister and I love wildlife and we wanted to stay at Sukau Rainforest Lodge and Borneo Rainforest Lodge for two nights each. This company arranged our stays with transportation and met all of our requests plus found us a great beach resort to stay in at the end. Daisy was incredibly responsive and answered my many questions very quickly and thoroughly. The trip went very smoothly. We did not need to contact them while on our trip but I have no doubts they would have been very responsive if we needed them.

We are just back from a 2 weeks stay in Sabah which Outback Venture helped organized customized to our family of 4. We had a fantastic time climbing Mt Kinabalu, going to Sepilok and then did a week of scuba diving on Gayana Island. From the start Daisy was very rapid at responding and modifying the itnierary, which we had to change a few times. She gave very helpful tips and suggestion. The communication prior to the trip and during the trip was excellent. The team was very friendly, knowledgeable, on time and flexible. Everything ran very smoothly and we are very happy with the team. Thank you Outback Venture team! We absolutely recommend you!

This was indeed one of my dream climb, never could have done it if without the experience of Outback Adventure whom really took good care of all things from beginning to end. We were rewarded with a magnificent view after the hardest climb. Truly rewarding.

Great experience signing up with them. Very fast response, friendly and helpful. My travel agent, Daisy even gave me tips on preparing my body before my climb. Once arrived in Sabah, I had no worries as they had prepared everything for me! The guides are nice and knowledgeable during the tour and the hike. They are good with camera too! Thank you very much for making my dream comes true and a remarkable one!

Daisy.. very prompt in reply. Mount kinabalu was an unforgettable trip of 2020. Our guide, slyvester, a warm and caring person never short of laughs and always concern of our well being taught us that a great guide is very essential in situations like this. Overall, everything was smooth and I couldn’t thank outback venture more for making this happen for us.
