The trip was excellent from beginning to end. Sticky Rice really delivered. Our guide, Mike was a first class guide especially when he teamed up with Ali at the Eco Camp at Tungog Lake. They were amazing spotters of wildlife. We saw all that we hoped for and much more

We absolutely loved our tour, particularly Dunam Valley. Our guide Akumal was incredible! He was knowledgeable, skilful and generous with all that he shared with us. We got to see a lot of amazing wildlife.
We have already recommended the tour with StickyRice to lots of our friends and family.
Accommodation was very good at Borneo Nature Lodge and the Danum Valley field centre. And the food, too!

Sticky Rice (Charles Ryan) put together an amazing custom bird and animal trip of Borneo for us. The trip included the highly acclaimed Danum Valley, Mt Kinabalu, and Kinabatangan River, as well as less known spots as Fraser"s Hill, True Madi and Deramakot. Sticky rice knows Borneo; they replied quickly to any special requests we made during the planning stage and flawlessly carried out the logistics of the trip. We've traveled extensively, and rate Charles Ryan as the "best guide ever!".

My recent trip to Borneo was fabulous. Sticky Rice had all the logistics in perfect order and the trip went like clockwork. Charlie is an amazing biologist and guide and he's very well connected within the eco guiding community. We saw over 300 spp during our 3 week trip and included a climb up Mt Kinabalu. Sticky Rice accommodated all of our requests and the experience was very unique and special. I highly recommend Sticky Rice .

The whole Sticky Rice team did a superb job in putting together a photo-oriented itinerary for me in Borneo. With a limited amount of time, I was able to see wildlife highlights from two different locations, the Danum Valley and the Kinabatangan River rain forest area. Using my inputs, Charlie & Rachel proposed a great plan, and teamed me up with Dean Jais, an excellent guide. Sticky Rice organizes for many top-level global travel companies, and their capabilities for my solo travel were perfect as well. Highly recommended!

A friend and I did a four night OROU SAPULOT trip in Sabah last August.
We had a truly remarkable experience and I cannot stress enough the effort and care taken by our guides and hosts to make our experience wonderful.
A particular highlight was the Sabah rice wine, however, that’s a story for another time.
We both learned a lot about an amazing culture and people and I look forward to returning to Sabah with Sticky Rice Tours as soon as I can!

Very good experience in organizing ourselves a trip to the Danum Valley with Sticky Rice Travel. Communication was excellent. We took the 3D2N package at the Danum Valley Field Center and it ended up being a great first immersion into the rain forest and its amazing wildlife.

Thankyou so much Sticky Rice for helping to arrange our 3D4N stay at Danum Valley - you made the admin easy and kept us informed at every stage. It was an incredible experience and wish we could have stayed longer. The guide was great, the accommodation comfortable and the food tasty. We were rewarded with so much wildlife, including five orangutans, one of which was a huge alpha male which we had to go off trail to get a closer look. We absolutely recommend Sticky Rice Travel to everyone who visits Sabah. Excellent trip !

Hi B736DAjerrys,
Thank you for taking time out to leave us a positive review. We are chuffed to know that you have had the pleasure to see not one but 5 orang utans including an alpha male on top of other wildlife encounter while in Danum Valley. Our guides are one of the best around and they know the area like the back of their hands, which made trekking in the million year old rainforest a much more enjoyable experience on top of a well informed trip planning from the travel consultant in charge.
Hope to see you around this part of Borneo again. Till then safe travel and take care.

Sticky Rice were brilliant from the first moment we got in touch with them. They helped us put together an awesome bespoke package for a three week trip away in Borneo. Their communication was excellent from the moment we got in touch with them they were incredibly prompt at answering any of our questions about the trip. We would like to thank Mina in particular who helped us put together our trip and who was just fabulous at supporting us when one of our flights got cancelled due to bad weather (she had already heard about the cancellation and had sourced alternative accommodation etc and rang us to support us so we did not have to stress about it at all). We really appreciated the fact they use local guides for all their trips and all of the guides we had were brilliant. The accommodation in all the locations we stayed in was excellent and the transfers etc were seamless. Would highly recommend to anyone.

I want to go to the sepilok sanctuary to see the orangutans I am staying in Kota Kinabalu is it possible in one day thanks
Hannah Mohd
Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia
Hi Penny,
You can visit Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre for a day trip. To reach Sepilok, the ideal way is to take a 45 minute flight from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan. If you are flying on the day you wish to visit Sepilok, we suggest you take the earliest flight and you can opt for a half day or full day trip there. We hope this answers your question, if you need further information you can send us an email info@stickyricetravel. com and one of our travel consultants will attend to you. Hope to hear from you soon.
Thank you,
Sticky Rice Travel Team

Hi Penny,
Apologies for the delayed reply. One of the best ways to see Orangutans while contributing to the local conservation effort in a day is by visiting the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Please don't hesitate to contact us for more details. Looking forward to hear from you.
Thank you,

Hello,
I’ll be traveling to the region in early January. Does Sticky Rice offer 2d3n tours to Maliau basin as well as Danum? Or 3d4n?
I’ll be traveling solo as well, is it possible to join a group? What is the general cost of these tours?
Thank you for any help that you can provide!
Nicholas H
Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia11 contributions
Hey Greenboat88, unfortunately for Maliau Basin the shortest itinerary we have available is a 4 days 3 nights. Maliau Basin is one of the more remote destination in Sabah with the overland journey from Kota Kinabalu taking 6-7 hours.
For Danum Valley we have 3 day 2 night and 4 day 3 night itineraries available departing from Lahad Datu. Please see the Sticky Rice Travel website for full itinerary details for both Maliau Basin and Danum Valley.
Where possible we try to arrange for single travellers to join existing transfers to avoid a single supplement surcharge. However the surcharge will need to be paid in the event that there are no existing transfers on the day you wish to travel.
I would encourage you to get in touch with our sales team via email. Please let them know rough dates you wish to travel on, hopefully we can link up with one of our existing bookings. Your Travel Consultant will also be able to provide you pricing based on your travel style.
We look forward to hearing from you and please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions.

How much does it cost for 3D2N for Danum Valley Tour? Where is the pick up point? I sent an inquiry to Sticky Rice two times but never get an answer. I want to know the cost to plan for my budget. Thanks.

Hi there,
Thanks for your e-mail and we do apologise for the apparent communication breakdown. The pick-up point for our Danum Valley trips is Lahad Datu Airport. Have you e-mailed our travel consultants directly on info@stickyricetravel. com or through other means? Please kindly provide your e-mail so I can forward your inquiry onto our team as soon as possible and deliver the requested quote.
Thank you,
