First night in KK decided to have food and a drink at the waterfront. Had a walk around to get a feel and was pestered at every establishment to come in. At the northern end, the smell of raw sewage was overpowering and we had to make a quick exit (market end). Sat at the waters edge which sounds good but wasn't. The sea is full of trash, mainly plastic and this is testament to how Borneo deals with rubbish, they throw it either in the sea or on the floor. Dirtiest city I have ever been to

This seemed to be a very busy area when we were there going past in our tour taxi with the locals celebrating the lunar new year.

Stayed in kota Kinabalu (KK) in Saba. And drove to the tip of Borneo.
Saba, and KK, has mostly communities of Chinese and Malay.
If you drive out, towards tip of Borneo, you will see a lot of rural villages through out Borneo.
Some are rural and really poor.
There are communities of Muslim, and Catholics in rural parts living side by side.
KK has mostly Chinese and Korean tourists.
The largest mall was average, doesn’t have the huge brands that KL has.
It’s not like Kuala Lumpar.
Two days was enough here.

A must visit place in Kota Kinabalu. For tourists staying near central point K.K. it’s walking distance. Nearby got Filipino market, lot of famous seafood restaurants, Shopping Malls like Suria Sabah.....

Have a visit and enjoy your dinner time.

Most of the places here need to pay by cash.

Was here a couple of times during my visit. It's an esplanade walk at Kota Kinabalu that faces open sea with strip of nightlife establishments/bars. It's also walking distance from many accomodations and hotel. The alcoholic beverages though are much more expensive here (I think because of the Sin Tax). This is a nice place to chill after an entire day of a tiring tour.

We were not overly impressed with the Waterfront. Plenty of bars with many staff trying to get you to visit their establishments. However once seated service was extremely slow.
We found the prices to be on the high side and it was not the cleanest of places.

KK waterfront is a place where tourists can relax and have their dinner after long day trips around KK.

On a clear afternoon, KK Waterfront boasted turquoise seawater with green islands backdrop. KK Waterfront was just within walking distance from my accommodation and on the last day of my stay in KK, having no other plan in the evening, I walked there for viewing sunset, not knowing what to expect. It turned out to be another spectacular sunset alongside those I'd seen in Tanjung Aru Beach south of KK and Sabandar Beach further north in Tuaran. The sun set earlier behind Gaya Island and the colour of the particular sunset was so pure, from yellow to orange and then red. I enjoyed the sunset experience here very much, which was hard to believe just within a walking distance.

We're family 3 adult 2 children visited Kota Kinabalu on 4 - 7 June 2019. I feel shock! This city totally very dirty ! Near the waterfront area you can see rubbish every where, on the street, in the drains, in the sea. Totally rubbish city !!!

But here I just posted the nice picture and beautiful photos only. Without rubbish.

Honestly this city very dirty. I hope state government can do something.
