We visited the pitcher plant garden today, as a former grower of carnivorous plants in the UK I loved this place. 55 different varieties of pitcher plant (a sample of each of Borneo’s species from the low lands) this is a comprehensive collection that deserves your time and patience. There is also an impressive orchid collection. The clear and obvious enthusiasm for the collection from Stephen - its on-site curator - should not be overlooked but taken advantage of. His seven day per week dedication to collecting and nurturing these most unique of plant species deserves respect. He will all too happily answer any questions you might have. No Xbox, McBurger or any digital distractions here, just fantastic nature located a short distance from Kuching centre.

I came with high hopes but quite disappointed to find that the place is small and doesn’t have a lot of different species of pitcher plants.

True, please bring along an insect repellant if you really want to visit

We have been here last year after it had reopened. This year it was much better as the plants were more established; It is good to get up close to see these mysterious plants and get good photos. instead of seeing them in the wild a distance a way.

If you are a plant lover, this place maybe you need to visit. This garden has some species of nepenthes. In my opinion, this garden should be expanded. Other plants, especially for foliage plants from Borneo, can be showed in this garden. Just for information, foreigners should pay RM6 to enter this place.

It is located about 30 mins drive away from the city, a short distance before the Semangoh Orang utang nature Park. There is an entrance fee of 3 ringgit for Malaysian n 6 Ringget for non Malaysians. The garden is not huge by park standards but it does have a wide varieties of pitcher plants planted in pots.
Do have some insect repellent with you as there are mosquitos n houseflies.

situated right in the heart of Kota Sentosa(10th mile bazaar), this garden displayed pitcher plants and wild orchids from Malaysia and neighbouring countries. There are around 30 plus subs pieces of pitcher plants(Nepenthes),wild orchids, ferns like staghorn and Bird's nest. The garden uses recycled plastic drink bottles for decorative wall, hanging pots and flowers(painted). I am very impressed with the local municipallity's effort in the conversation of these unique plants. The garden is small, but well worth a visit. Admission fee is RM 3 per adult. More for foreigners.
