About
I gave up my courier in social & policy work in United Nation Development Program (UNDP) after I decided to play a bigger role in life...being MOM! :) Indah Cafe was started in 2014, after the birth of my second child. With no experience in starting or operating a cafe but armed only with pure passion for art & cooking, this little Art Gallery Cafe was my '3rd child'. As the saying goes, the sweat & tears are history (kinda) & through the encouragement of our lovely & colourful visitors, we started our cooking class :) We start with a trip to the farmers market where you will learn the importance of some of the herbs & vegetables found. As a large community still lives in the interior where access to a clinic, let alone hospital, is a challenge, these naturally organic jungle produce plays a big role in its medicinal purpose. We will buy some of these & go back to Indah cafe where you will need to start preparing. You will learn to cook five dishes before eating what you prepare

We went to the cafe. I had the vegan enchiladas and my friend had a beef curry. Both meals were delicious. They also make fabulous lassis and a great cup of tea. The staff were lovely. Highly recommend.

I've been here twice on both visits to Kuching. The food is great and they are always willing to chat. It's on a lovely little street with loads of plants and there is Ayrton sale from local artists. If you want a coffee or a bite to eat after shopping defo come here.

Tasty roti with a good range of sweet and savoury fillings. The slightly backpackery cafe has a focus on veggie and vegan Malaysian-inspired food. The staff were lovely and attentive, checking our dietary requirements. This would be a good lunch spot for someone on a restricted diet (eg. because I had asked for my drink without milk, the owner came back to check whether I was lactose intolerant before cooking our food. It looked as though you could also book activities through this cafe if you wanted.

I had Iunch at Indah Cafe and was told about the Cooking Class. As a solo traveller I like to join experiences so booked on the next day with a couple from Ireland.
We were taken to the Sunday Market by car to buy vegetables, fruit, spices etc to make our dishes plus lots of explanations. After returning to a kitchen space near Indah Cafe we chopped, pounded, mixed and cooked 5 dishes. All were delicious and our cooks Alex and Emma were great. Everyone there is very warm and friendly. Then your food is taken to the restaurant to eat lunch. You can take away as well as so much food. Recipes very easy to replicate at home.
Highly recommended activity if you have a free 1/2 day in Kuching.
