We found this place by accident, we crossed the "bridge to nowhere " expecting to be able to see/visit some of the sites on the other side of the river we found everything locked up apart from this place if you like plants and flowers it is well worth a walk over the bridge.

Nice ... yet could be so much better ... it's almost a catch phrase for all things tourism offers in Kuching and Sarawak.

The gardens are quiet lovely ... yet, there is a feel about ... its not well tended ... the plant displays feel coarse; not like in other Botanical Gardens in the country. Also there is no overview map ... and virtually no labeling of plants / orchids. From a facilities point of view, at least one of the toilets was working ... and not even the chance to buy a bottle of water.

With a little bit of TLC, this could be a tourists attraction in Kuching. At least its a free activity, so that's the saving grace.

You have to come here with very low expectations. Expect to go for a walk with a few occasional orchids and you won't be disappointed. Your sighting of orchids will depend on the flowering season.

Quite tricky to find, especially as you have to cross a building site after crossing the bridge to the state legislature side of the river. It is worth the effort as the orchid garden is super. Lots to see, even if you are not a particularly keen gardener

The park with size around 6 hectares; visitors like students and gardeners can make the research at nursery section.
For those who prefer flowers and plants, type of orchids with different colors at display area waiting for you.

Lovely free activity to pass an hour in Kuching. Enjoyed the walk across the bridge to get there. Not many orchids blooming at the moment but worth a visit nonetheless.

Not the easiest to find as the signs run out once get to the road to the State Legislature, a sign at the top to go left would be helpful to tourists. We found it and told other tourists how to find. Overall, a great assortment of orchids, the outside ones seemed to be out of season but we still enjoyed what was there. We accidentally left the cold room to the end & that was the best as it had the best orchids, recommend doing it that way. If you have the time, go! Also free admission.

The gardens are very beautiful. However you need to apply insect repellent on you because the inscect bites are really painful.

I have always love this place which is just ‘across’ the river 😉 Coming back to Kuching ; the Orchid Garden is a must visit. This time I am taking my son’s girlfriend (her first time to Kuching and of course the Orchid Garden) and my daughter 😘
But there weren’t the display of orchids of previous years outdoor 😔 but the indoor (air conditioned) still had some for which I was grateful or I’d be telling tall tales 😊
Wear comfy shoes, insect repellent, hat or bring brollies (umbrella) for the sun and/or rain. Opens 9:30 am and entry has been free all these years but do check just in case.
