    Place for an evening promenade
Nice walkway along the riverfront with good views across to the administrative building and up to the footbridge. A very family atmosphere with people dressing up to promenade (we were there at the end of Ramadan). Entertainers aimed at small children dancing in costume and at 8:30pm 'dancing fountains' in front of the government administrative building - although probably best watched from the side to avoid getting flashes of laser in your eyes!

    A pleasant walk in Kuching
We visited Kuching from a cruise. We caught the cruise shuttle into town, which took about 30 minutes, to wander. The walk along the Esplanade is very pleasant, with some interesting buildings. Very quiet when we were there. We enjoyed our walk along the river.

    Stunning views
Totally worth it, beautiful stunning views at night and nice breeze. There is a light show 3 times at 8.30 9.30 and 10.30 pm so don’t miss that. Many shops along the waterfront

The riverfront esplanade has a bit of something for everyone. Lots of shops, food stalls, light shows, and impressive buildings lining the river. Definitely worth a visit if in Kuching!

The esplanade was nicely designed and could have been impressive a few years back.
Currently, it is just another ugly street market selling sugary drinks and all sorts of rubbish, rather than being a peaceful walking destination.
The dancing fountains look cheap, and the video projection is blurry, making the whole experience quite disappointing.

Most of landmarks in Kuching are located in this waterfront area, come and take a walk by the Sarawak River near dusk, enjoy some breeze and sunset. Don’t come here in a sunny afternoon, not many trees shade.

This is quite a happening place at night with lots to see and take pictures. I have to deduct a star for the lack of crowd control and the traffic and inconvenient parking.

Especially at sunset, stroll any time a cool breeze blows off the river. A simple pleasure of paved walkways, grass, trees and food stalls await you.

Go either early in the morning or late in the evening. Take the sampan ride. Walk to nearby India St, the mall, Carpenter St.
