Called in for a quick one after work . Late afternoon - no draft beer but what they had in cans was cold wet and good and in a good cause. Staff exceptionally friendly so will return

Walked up to an empty bar ...waitress was smoking inside and generally disinterested ....she gave us a drinks menu and then started looking at her phone ......we left.

Drink for a good cause ! The owner came to explain the concept of his bar on our first night here, we found the prices quite good as well as the music and the location.

Fantastic ethical and eco friendly bar!

Dropped in for a beer and was greeted by uk Sam the manager - possibly the friendliest and most helpful man in Borneo!! The bar is owned by the Matang wildlife centre and all profits go to help rehabilitate rescued animals back into the wild. The beer is cheap (no food) and the more you drink the more you are raising much needed funds for the orangutans! What could be better?! It’s a cool venue with friendly staff, music and a chilled back vibe. We have been 3 nights in a row but tomorrow will go to its sister bar Bear Gardens where the same profit share applies. Can’t recommend this enough!

I came because I lived in the hotel back of the bar. Only came to fulfill my curiosity and having a wonderful night there. They provide some cheap beer and chill ambience, maybe because I go home to early. They are not provide any food or finger snacks.

They serve only drinks, no food. Went to hang out but was told food will need to order from the next shop and they will deliver over. We went to the shop next door instead but the outlook wasnt appealing, we left to James Brook bistro instead.

The monkeebar is a handy place to go sip a couple beers or drinks, smoke a shisha and chat with friends, The atmosphere is light and fun although the "No Fight" warnings on the wall are a little ominous.

Great Concept , But !!!

Use to love the monkee bar and all it supports for animals. A great concept and the decor and drinks are great. But the amount of cigarette smoke is just too overpowering. Inside and outside is full of smoke and its very hard to avoid, especially when even the workers behind the bar are also smoking. Its a great shame, because it should be a really great venue.

Nice staff. Beer is very cold. Fun interesting cocktails. Good music. The highlight was the shisha - shisha guy, Ali, comes around 10pm. He is really cool and interesting, but also his shisha is DELICIOUS. I had the peach, best shisha I can remember.
