Somewhat dissapoiting that the rover trail and canopy walks are now closed. Hope they will be reopened in time when the trail has recovered.

Other attractions are still good. It's a nice natural and safe area for families wanting outdoor excercise.

We visited FRIM on a whim. The entry fee was very reasonable. We hired a guide for RM150. Mr Wahib spoke fluent English and was very knowledgeable of the flora and fauna of the rainforest. He was very patient especially with the kids. We spent nearly 2 hours on the hike.
The website could be improved to mention the clothing requirements. Shorts and slippers are not suitable. You should wear longs pants, hiking boots and gaiters to prevent leeches. Also use ample inspect repellent. Bring water as it can get quite warm and food for the kids.
Highly recommended it especially if possible you want to know more about the rainforest.

Johnson, our guide, was very knowledgeable and interesting, explaining all about seed dispersal, plant species, rainforest ecology and the local history of the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM).

The hike was great (although definitely bring mosquito repellant and wear long clothing and hiking boots for protection) and we learned a lot about the different species of trees and that the FRIM is a completely man-made rejuvenated forest of over 1,500 acres which used to be open-cut tin mines.

Our favourite part of the hike was observing the "Crown Shyness" - a beautiful mosaic caused by a mysterious natural phenomenon where the leaves of the canopy layers "shy" away from each other.

You need to book a guide in advance if you want this experience. We also did Batu Caves in the morning and then tagged on FRIM in the afternoon which is doable for a whole day trip.

If you want a sneak preview of Malaysia's rainforest, this is the place! It's a stone throw away from KL. You should try the jungle trail here. It's a short, easy walk that's even suitable for children.

lots of trees in a natural setting. Good hiking trails available. The sound of the water fall is soothing and relaxing to the mind.

This was a day in the forest with kids. I didn't have high hopes with the amenities as it turns out it was quite alright. The walkways were clean and although ageing but still safe for kids. There was some litter here and there but not filthy. But then again one would expect not to find litter at a well-manintained forest reserve.

This is our second year held in the same spot. Love it every second of it.

The beauty of puzzle in the sky is breathtaking. After the event we went to the waterfall for more play. We catches some prawns to show to my daughter for her observation there with ouraquarium net. Of course we have to let go after the observation as the rules stated we cannot bring anything out from FRIM except the rubbish🤣🤣🤣.

A disappointing day out. You can’t actually walk along any of the nature trails without a guide. But the worst was the angry little man on the gate who insisted on charging us foreigner rates despite our residency cards. Don’t bother.

I had planned to walk a short track among the giant trees but I ended up driving around Frim.
I found the map on the grounds but I could not follow it. The Foxworthy Road is psssable to cars so it wasn't pleasant to walk. The smaller roads lead you to a dead end. I couldn't find the entrance to any marked tracks.
I guess one need to print out a map or perhaps know which track is suitable for your fitness level. The management could help by providing recommended tracks with proper names and trees sighted in it's vicinity. The estimated time to complete from start to end point will be helpful to first timers, tourist included.
I am dissappointed as I didn't get very near to the many great trees. It is the place to go to be back for nature.
