In addition to these architectural 'highlights', there are also numerous other objects here that are worth visiting.
There are a whole range of very nice restaurants here that are definitely worth visiting. The walls of houses that have been painted in a very tasteful manner are also impressive, as are some notable sights, such as the Ho Ann Kiong Temple or the Teng La Po archway. Some shops with a very unusual range of goods are also very interesting.
In one respect, however, this place has a strange character:
The Chinatowns in (almost) all cities in Malaysia are always the focal points of public life in the evenings. But this is not the case in Terengganu. It gets quiet here very quickly in the evening. If you don't get to Jalan Kampung Cina - the central street of Chinatown - until around 8 p.m., you'll be very lucky if you find a restaurant or similar establishment where you can satisfy your hunger or thirst.
Strange, but don't panic: there are even livelier areas in Terengganu at this time. There are already a few people in front of the archway.

Is a very convenient place to stay especially for non Muslim. Located in the heart of the city, access to foods and tourist destination is convenient. An area fill with alot of wall arts, mural and painting. Lot's of Chinese restaurant with variety of foods can be found here.
Recommended to stay in this area if you are non-muslim.

The place just smell of food. One can get fresh produce up to dry produce. They have every thing that one wants . From handbags to shoes and clothing for both men and woman and children. It is a bit pricey but be careful the streets are narrow and on the main road with heavy traffic. One one Manila was better and very large.

There is a lot of restaurant around this area. It become more popular because there are some streets art surrounded this area such as Turtle Sculpture and some murals. In this area, you can also get some souvenirs and local food such as kerepok lekor steam, small bun and roti paung. Be early if you want to get a taste of the foods.

The Chinatown in KT is very small. Just one small street with shops on both sides of the road.

Good to spend a couple of hours strolling around to hunt for old collectibles, have some food in the really old shops and soaked in the vibe in the many coffee shops dotting along the road.

The hawker stalls selling noodles and yong tau foo are good and delicious too.

We like the Bean Works for coffee due to its comfortable and clean interior.

It’s just a short walk away from Pasar Payang.

Unique chinatown cover with modernization. This is the only one stretch street live by chinese businessmen in Islamic government states. Just hope that the population of Chinese will not continue to decrease and this town many instinct in next 20 years.

I finally had the opportunity to visit Kuala Trengganu's bustling Chinatown (Kampong Cina). It is certainly one of the more colourful Chinatowns in Malaysia!✌✌. Definitely not to be missed if one happens to be visiting West Malaysia's East Coast. Cheers!!!.

We have heard about Baba and Nyonya, and even Peranakan of Melaka, Penang and Singapore. But Cina Peranakan of Kelantan and Terengganu? A sub-minority of a minority in a Malay State? Recently my friends and i visited Kuala Terengganu with the objective of getting to know more about our counterparts in Kuala Terengganu. A pandora box opened right before us through our various dialogue sessions with the local people. In Malaysia, we are preoccupied with inter-ethnic differences, and we forgot or neglect the intra-ethnic varieties. Just along a 800 meter road that is Kampung Cina (Chinatown) or Jalan Bandar, the local Chinese categorised themselves as 'poh thau' (pekan hilir / upriver town folk) and 'poh thei' (pekan hulu / downriver town folk). Both subcategories are divided by a bridge along this 800 meter stretch. Among this poh thau and poh thei folks, the people are further sub-divided as 'pun they' (orang tempatan / local born) and 'sinkheh (tetamu baru / new guests/arrivals). Not to mention the diverse clan groups, dialect groups with their respective specialised occupations.

Then we have another over-arching category that includes all local born as 'cheng mua lang' (pakai sarong punya orang / wear sarong people) vis-a-vis the 'boh cheng mua lang' (tak pakai sarong punya orang / do not wear sarong people). The former is the definitive term for Chinese who are born here in Terengganu and who have acculturated their lifestyle, mannerisms, language, attire, food, customs with the local Malay scenario.

A visit to Kuala Terengganu would be incomplete without a visit to Kampung Cina. Ask the locals where is the one and only auntie who still bakes the 'roti paun' using charcoal. As the locals for the family who, once upon a time, made durian cake. The stoves and kuali are still kept with care, unfortunately, the absence of young manpower hinders the continuity of the production of this traditional snack.
