At the entrance of the old medina, in a former almond warehouse, l'Atelier Madada welcomes you under its stone arches. By small groups (8 persons maximum) and supervised by a professional team (a cook and a trilingual presenter) our hosts discover the secrets of Moroccan gastronomy and are initiated into the delights of one of the best cuisine in the world. In a friendly and casual atmosphere, those half-day workshops teach each participant how to prepare a full traditional meal that one can then easily reproduce at home.

We booked this cooking class just to get a bit into the moroccan cuisine, the fact is, we learned not only to cook a delicious Tagine but also a lot about the culture and the mentality of Moroccan. 100% recommended!

We did the pastry class on a rainy Saturday afternoon and we are so glad we did. As well as learning how to make typical Moroccan biscuits, Alison the English instructor gave us an insight into Essaouira & the Moroccan way of life. Her & Mouna make a great team & the class was fun & really interesting. Mouna is... More

A great teacher gets the most out of his or her students and makes every student in the class feel successful, and by those measures Allyson and Mona are both great teachers. If you are going to aspire to Mona's high standards, chicken pastilla is a very difficult dish to make, and half the students in our class were not... More

We booked our cookery lesson well in advance so were lucky enough to chose the menu for our lesson. Alison and Muna were fun and knowledgable and will always think of Muna every time I chop onions! She is certainly a perfectionist that is for sure! I surprised myself by really enjoys the lesson as a chef I am most... More

We took a cooking lesson at Atelier Madada and I must say that not only the cooking, the kitchen (brand new place) and the chefs are great but I also learnt a lot attending that class. Since our beef tajine had to simmer for quite a while, we were taken out for a quick tour of the souk and a... More

Took part in a half day cooking course on using a tagine. Alison and Muna were very welcoming and informative. The walk to the spice market was very interesting, especially with the local knowledge that Alison has. We really had a fun time, thanks.

I would highly recommend to anybody regardless of cooking ability. It is a fun morning with lovely staff who make you feel welcome and chat to you about the history and culture of Essaouira and Mococco. We made a delicious seafood pastilla and Tshakshuka and shared the dishes at lunchtime with our family. The morning also includes a walk around... More
