Family Trip to Sur

Nice Castle, well preserved. The guide Rashid was very friendly. We expend around 45 minutes during our visit.

This was one of the smallest castles we have visited, mainly it has a yard with a wall. No entrance fee. You need 5 minutes to visit it, but there is no harm if you skip it.

Decent castle to see. But once is always a curiosity. Next time may not be attractive enough. We went and enjoyed Sur thoroughly. But would not rate a castle very high on priority.

Worth stopping at this small castle on your way to Sur coming from the south. The castle has only a couple of rooms with coffee pots, cooking utensils and guns. There is a large central courtyard with a well. You can visit the towers and walk along the ramparts. The staff speak good English and are friendly. The castle is... More

Great place to experience history. The castle is in great shape. Allthough there are not many rooms you can visit that have authentic interior, the building and its location give you a sense of how it must have been in the old days. Next to it is a nice mosque which makes nice pictures together with te castle. The village... More

We really enjoyed the castle. It is beautiful. The views from the top of the castle are wonderful but it was so so warm!! Being from England we struggled! But it was worth it

Fort is a great stopover near Ras Al Jins. Has a number of antique items - coffee pots, cooking pots etc. The guide on duty was friendly and despite some language barriers, tried to help explain a few things. The fort itself is well signposted, although there is limited information in the fort to explain things. A guide sheet, aka... More

Compared to Bahla or Jibreen castles, this old fort isn't much to look at, but it's interesting enough and has a pleasant Beau Geste feel to it. The toilets are astonishingly clean, quite amazingly so.

Unlike Nizwa Fort, this is a small fort. Visit if time permits during stopover on way to Rass al Jins

Very nice place to visit to see lot many turtle, how they prepare place to lay eggs, see actual laying of eggs and then hiding the laid eggs place, all very fascinating and enjoyable. There are places to stay overnight as eggs laying can be seen during late night only. Roaring sound of sea waves is some time frightening and... More
