Playa Pimentel was, long ago, a very popular beach with the owners of haciendas in Lambayeque and with people from Lima. It has become a tourist trap with overpopulated beaches during the local summer. Cheap souvenir stores and mediocre restaurants along the Malecon.

I slipped over to Pimentel yesterday for a look at the ocean and some fresh seafood. Take a walk out the pier, watch the reed boats come back in from fishing all day. The malecon is nice, the beach is a little rocky but surprisingly clean, the people are friendly, the people watching is great, the beer is cold. Had... More

I really enjoyed all the variety of food and services offered at this beach. It reminds me a lot of Huanchaco in Trujillo, but the water is cleaner and it's not as crowded as Mancora. Great option for taking taking a swim, watching pelicans and having a nice meal.

I went to spend overnight there and what I found was this place was over pricing, incredible cold (it was winter by te way so it's not the worst) and dangerous. Everybody kept telling us don't stay close left side of the port because it was dangerous but we were told stay in the right side because is calm. I... More

The beach is dirty, full of garbage and black sticky sand. It's disgraceful to find this so-called tourist attraction in such terrible conditions.

Do not go out of your way. The beach pales in comparison to others, it is not clean or pleasant. We did not eat there so perhaps the food was good but this is a fair way out of Chiclayo and just not worth the ride there and back frankly. The five star reviews are baffling.

Pimentel is all about that huge impressive wooden pier which you have to pay 2 soles to walk. The beach can be good for non windy days to chill but if you re too close to the left side, close to the fisher boats the smell is unbearable. There are restaurants lined alson the malecon, beer is 10 soles. From... More
