When you take a tour here you are not told that you have to climb a very very steep hill. It is really quite dangerous in my opinion as I suffered severely from high altitude sickness. I only got half way up the hill to...More

Enjoyed seeing traditional family life here. Seeing the men knitting traditional garments and the women weaving traditional cloth was great as was the explanation of the different styles of headgear worn. We also got to take part in some dancing but beware of the altitude...More

One of the best examples of community tourism we have ever experienced. Amazing views, great handcrafted goods, incredible culture that remains true to its roots. A MUST visit.

There was so much to learn about this island, its people and their customs. We had an excellent lunch and had the chance to buy good value knitwear, much of which is produced by men. Be prepared for a steep and long walk to the...More

Be prepared to walk in high altitude. Really worth an hour boat ride to see this beautiful place, clear water with the Bolivian snow hills in the very background. Native people show you their ancient culture.

When you get to Puno....discuss it with your Hotel staff. They know heaps of tour operators that will take you to the Island. Or just go down to the port...there are heaps of boats and people asking you if you want a boat... More
Hi David. Can I ask did you book your trip through your hotel or go in to Puno on the day and organise it by yourself. How easy was it to get into town/harbour area from your hotel? Thanks
