For some reason nobody suggests you to go here and even a policewoman two blocks away from it couldn't give me directions to find it. It's a small museum with a very nice collection, even mummies from Sillustani.

We went here randomly while in Puno and are happy we did. It's a very local museum, with information on Carlos Dreyer, but mostly lots of local history, dating back to centuries before the Spanish invaded. There are mummies, lots of artifacts from the Incas...More

Museo Municipal Carlos Dreyer was a delightful find in Puno. The museum is small and will, only take an hour or so to visit, but it is full of wonderful history, from archeological finds to textiles, and event art. We really enjoyed our visit here.

With an excellent guide leaflet in English it was easy to be enthralled by the story of Carlos Dreyer and enjoy the artefacts on display. Worth a visit.

When I visited there were some photographs of earlier times that I found interesting. Then there are ceramics and other artefacts displayed with Spanish signage in the other rooms. The mummies from Sillustani are particularly noteworthy. The museum is in an old house with courtyard....More
