They have a mini museum about the types of butterflies inside the house but the collection has not been udpated. And the house needs upkeep to better display the collections. The gardens are not kept well and there was no butterfly in it. The paintings is worth to look at because some are made from butterfly wings thus it is... More

The place was easy to be found. Just ask the locals in the metro which route to take. As far as i can remember we took the 17D jeepney from across Magellan's Cross to the school, Don Vicente Rama Memorial National High school, near Jumalon street. You have to see the different artwork made from butterflies. Really. Preserved butterflies were... More

I like how professor explained the life cycle of butterflies, differences of moths and butterflies and their food plant. Bonus is the water paintings at butterfly wings collage.

The years have not been kind to the sanctuary's butterfly collection & gallery. However, it still retained the rich history of J. N. Jumalon - who undoubtedly was one of this country's unsung national artists. It's too bad this place did not get the proper financial support from the government. This place is slowly starting to lose its shine...

Visited Jumalon Butterfly Sanctuary last Oct 27 out of curiosity and yes! I've got lots of surprises..! How a man collected and housed almost all kinds of butterflies is such an amazing feat. It is scientifically presented with proper identification, just wow! More of butterflies' live evolution where tourist can see for himself...plus the collector's painting is truly for the... More

The first butterfly sanctuary in the Philippines that became the inspiration for other butterfly sanctuaries all over the country! Now, the street where it is located is also named after its founder! Not only do you encounter free-flying butterflies, you also get to see the painting collection made from butterfly wings! Visit and be awed!

What an amazing place of heritage and collections! We were so blessed to have the son of the original collection give us a private tour. He gave life lessons along with the lessons of nature. His knowledge of each butterfly is very intimate and comes out with his passion of what he does. We even got to release a newly... More
