Worth a visit here. There are a lot of programs with english or romanian subtitles. The surrounding area of the building is is process of renovation, so the surrounding will look nice as well. Very close to the city center, and just at the entrance to Central Parc.

When my friend proposed to me to spend a night at the Hungarian theatre I was a bit sceptic but I decided to give a go after a second thought! It finally proved to be a good decision as the play I watched was interesting and well performed by the theatre team. Watching Hungarian actors and reading english subtitles on... More

The only theater in Cluj with both English and Romanian subtitles. The opera is definitely better than the National Opera and the theater group regularly wins the competition for Romania's best theater group. They have played many times in Budapest, Prague and even Seol, South Korea.

I love theatre and I've been to both the Romanian and the Hungarian one. The building doesn't look appealing from the outside, but I have to say that the acting crew is great, so are the opera singers. I give plus points for haviing subtitles in Romanian, but I would like to see more shows subtitled in English. Don't miss... More

I arrived at the theatre early from my studies but had to wait outside till the doors opened at 6.35pm for the 7pm performance. The seats were poorly numbered and I was sent in the wrong direction by one of the attendants and ended up in the wrong place! I was not the only one. The seats are crammed up... More

I grew up in Cluj and I am myself a member of the Hungarian minority. Although I like to go to both to the National Theatre and the Hungarian one too, I believe this latter is extraordinary in the high quality theatrical performances. The actors are good, they work regularly with internationally acclaimed partners (directors, dramaturgs, etc.) and the organization... More

We were so glad to see that Hungarian Theatre and Opera is popular and local people (Hungarians and Romanians) take the opportunity of it well! The piece that we saw was one of the latests before the theatre closes for this season. Ticket was discounted and costed 5 lei (~1 EUR). The performance will always remain unforgetable experience for us.... More

My partner and I went to see the ballet Giselle at the beginning of October 2012. Fortunately, the venue was just over the road from the hotel we were staying at, so it was really easy to find. Whilst I can't comment on the quality of the plays (wouldn't understand them anyway!) the ballet we saw was fantastic. It's an... More
