This is a fascinating little museum but it's not obvious to spot and has little in the way of signage. Like many similar Eastern European museums devoted to the transition to democracy, there is a strong focus on the local area - Timisoara, but also Romania, and the movements across Eastern Europe that were taking place at the time. There's... More

This museum took a while to find but it shouldn't as it is just off the square and has an enormous 1989 banner outside! The museum is not accessible by wheelchair on the first floor but there is plenty to see on the ground floor and only a couple of steps to navigate. The curator helped us up the steps.... More

Some incredible photographs of the Revolution set in an atmosphere that sets a time of see and admiration for the people of Romania and Timisoara....no heat in December, certain halls were lit others not....all seemed appropriate and experiential. A moving experience. One admission fee to enter, an additional fee to take photographs.

This is not a museum but a research centre but they have created interesting displays that show the history of the Romanian revolution and the fall of the Iron curtain. There is a video to start showing footage from the revolution in Timisoara. It is well worth a visit.

This museum and memorial to the 1989 Revolution is in a former police or army building. It is tended by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic curator who meets visitors, talks about the memorial, gives a potted history of some of the exhibits and then sets you down to watch a film about the 1989 Revolution and the key role that the... We arrived not really knowing what to expect as the building is rather run down. But once inside we were warmly welcomed and shown a film which was a very informative. I'd highly recommend a visit to this museum..... It's definitely worth an hour of your day!!

An excellent museum dedicated to the revolution. Guides very knowledgeable and the 30 min film is very informative. You need at least 1 hour there.

A few steps north-east of Unirii Square, but well worth it. Located in an old military building that reminds you what things might be like if folks in Timisoara hadn't stood up to the machine guns of the old Romanian regime. A well-organized, fascinating display, run not by the State but by an association dedicated to the memory of those... More

After trying to find the place for a while, we realised that the entrance was a completely unassuming place that had a guard dog close to the door, which was a bit intimidating. Once inside the dilapidated building, we paid our tickets and walked around. It is a large building with many rooms, all chronologically dedicated to the revolution that... More

We came to Timisoara for 1 day and wanted to find out about the recent history of the city. We were shown an interesting film about the December 1989 revolution, then the guide told us about the various exhibitions. Entrance fee was 10 lei for adults and 5 for children
