The building, the space, the exhibits......... all below average and poorly presented, symbolic of socialist days. Nothing to write home about at all.

Muzeul de Arta is housed in one of the beautiful buildings in the aesthetically impressive Unirii Square. It is just 10 lei to enter (about £2) and well worth it for the hour or so that you will spend in there. Unless you're familiar with Romanian art, you probably won't have come across many of the pieces kept here but... More

During our travels of Romania we have grown very fond of its artists, especially Theodor Pallady and Nicolae Grigorescu which were on show. We also now have a new artist for us to appreciate Corneliu Baba a portraitist and Genre painter. We enjoyed just cruising around the rooms taking it all, We were the only visitors there. This is a... More

This is a great museum in a spectacular old building. Although we're very interested in art we had little knowledge of Romanian art and artists and so it was fascinating and educational. The room attendants were also very happy to provide further information and background which was really helpful. Absolutely worth a visit and allow a couple of hours.

The history of the art collection begins with the Banat Museum’s establishment in 1872. To the humble beginnings of the actual section of art, dating back to 1879 when the first painting was registered, is added an important donation from Ormòs Zsigmond’s collection, who was one of the museum’s founders, in the period between 1888 and 1895. His donation, which... More

The museum looks very good, it's very well preserved and it has a great collection of contemporary art belonging to Romanian painters. It was a very beautiful experience and I can't wait to be back soon in Timisoara to visit the museum again.
