Beyond the Garden Ring, which at that arc of the Ring is called Garden-Suharevskaya Ulitsa(Street), is located this Vasnetsov's own house. Now it is transformed in museum. It is situated in Vasnetsova Lane (Pereulok) and can be attained from the Sukharevskaya Metro Station. The house is literally plonked down in amongst a group of Soviet high-rises, but in my opinion it... I think this is one of the hidden gems of the Moscow museum scene. The house is beautifully preserved and decorated with art and furniture. A big surprise was the gorgeous, airy studio on the second floor. We spent a good amount of our time there looking at the space and the art. There was a school tour going on... More

The house will give you a sign of Russian style (wooden walls, samovar, stove, fretwork) and at the same time a good representation of Vastnetsov works, especially for fairy tales. The place looks very cosy and the keepers are very friendly. But nobody speak English! Note - the house is old, the passes a very tiny and the stairs on... More

This gorgeous house is tucked away amongst the urban sprawl of bleak apartment buildings a short walk from the Sukharevskaya Metro station, so it's very easy to get to. As previous writers have mentioned, Viktor Vasnetsov was a Russian Revivalist painter from the late 19th - early 20th century whose themes were predominantly fairy tales. If you are into the... I really want to recommend everybody house of one of the best russian painter Victor Vasnetsov, which is situated among usual boring living building near Sukharevskaya (and also Prospect mira or Tsvetnoy bulvar) metro station. Vasnetsov has projected his house by himself, it's a mix of village house and old russian 'terem' houses. As you get in there, from usual... More

I visited this house museum occasionally, because my daughter had school excursion there. And I was ashamed, that didn't it before. The museum is really hidden gem of Moscow. Definitely recommended. Possibly, it's make a sense to book guided tour (cost is about 800 RUR pp, only tickets 250 RUR pp). This is not a hut, it's a 2 story gorgeous wooden house built in pseudo Russian style (terem), and filled with original works by the Vasnetsov brothers, late 19th Century painters comparable to the Pre-Raphaelites, i.e. large scale, fairly tale themed, wonderfully beautiful. The Princess and the Grey Wolf hangs there. It's very hard to find but if you're truly... More
