It is very impressive from the inside and outside . The Five golden-onion domes can be seen from afar. It was built more than 600 years ago. This is the place where the Tsars were crowned . The frescos inside are wonderful and amazing. Its the best Cathedral in the Kremlin. The outside is white and austere but the inside... More

The highlight of our visit to Moscow was the time we spent behind the walls of the Kremlin....and one of the most impressive of the Cathedrals within, is the Dormition,( or Assumption) Cathedral with it's five Domes ...symbolic of Jesus and the four Evangelists. The original building was built between 1326 and 1327.....over 600 years ago, but it was replaced... More

The Cathedral of the Assumption is a Russian Orthodox church located on the north side of Cathedral Square of the Moscow Kremlin. It was once the most important church in Moscow. The first Russian Tsar, Ivan the Terrible, was anointed here in 1547 and from 1721 all Russian Emperors were crowned here. The outside of the cathedral is very interesting,... More

Impressive church inside the Kremlin walls. Used to crown Czars and other state functions. Historical religious frescos on the walls and popular to visit so can be crowded. Brochures in different languages inside to show and explain what is inside.

The Assumption (Dormition) Cathedral has remained the main cathedral in Russia for four hundred years. It was there the czars and emperors were crowned and the most important services took place. The interior look and feel are impossible to describe - every inch of wall and ceiling space is painted in frescos depicting saints and biblical scenes on cerulean blue... More

This five gold domed Church dominates the Cathedral Sq inside the Kremlin. This is the mother Church of the Russian Orthodox Church, the oldest and the biggest one in Kremlin. The inside when entering takes your breath away. It's immaculately decorated in frescoes and icons. At the entrance there are useful multilingual leaflets to tell you more about the Church.... More

This is a beautiful 5 domed church and is the highest point on Borovitsky Hill. For several centuries it was the main church of Russia. The interior is covered with beautiful painted walls, columns and ceilings. The day we visited it was very crowded and difficult to maneuver but still worth the effort.

It is well worth walking inside the church with wonderful icons and beautiful murals from floor to ceiling. given it is in the Kremlin it is on the tourist trek and therefore can become quite crowded.

Amazing church at the Cathedral square in Kremlin. Possibly the best of them all. Great interior, very richly decorated and adorned. Must see if you're entering Kremlin. At the entrance you can take very informative handout free of charge. Avaliable in many languages.
