This is a beautiful church. As you approach it you might guess it was a couple hundred years old, but actually it was just completed in 2010. The original church on this spot was destroyed by Stalin and the local people decided to rebuild. This...More

This is a newly built church built with money donated by a Russian businessman. We went on a sunny day with the light reflecting off the white walls and golden domes, it took some amazing pictures.

This is really the spot to visit. The location is ideal, the church is very beautiful and very light insight when you compare with other Russina churches. And for me the thing that was the most special: the holy trinity is female over here.

This new church was built in 2010 on the same spot that the old church (which Stalin destroyed) stood. It was built to celebrate the 1000 anniversary of the town and is also close to their city war memorial. Very poignant.

This cathedral was built in early 13th century. Almost of parts were destroyed after Soviet revolution. Reconstruction and renovation started from 2004, and completed in 2010. Beautiful and big cathedral. In front, there is Strelka observation point to see park and Bolga river.

My wife and I took a two week river boat tour from Moscow to St. Petersburg. Russia is loaded with churches with icons. We must have toured twenty or thirty churches, and after a while a church, is a church, is a church. One can...More

The cathedral looks pretty impressive from the outside, but inside it just feels like a hastily and badly constructed new-build tourist attraction with signs of damp in various places. Too squeaky clean and no character whatsoever. Much prefer the old churches in Yaroslavl.
