At one time, Vladisvostok was one of the strongest coastal fortresses in the world, and the concrete structures used to fortify the city can still be seen at the base of mountains, along local roads and in the seaside.

The fortress has a great view and an interesting historical background. I believe it is still a working military establishment. Vladivostok had the biggest naval fortress in Russia by World War One so there is plenty to see.

The Battery Bezymyannaya is also known as coastal battery # 19. It was built in 1872, as part of the city defences. It never saw any action during the war years, and was retired in 1923 after the Russian Civil War, as part of an...More

A museum to some fascinating history. I have read it was one of the best coastal fortifications in the world. The view is fantastic as you observe the area it was built to protect. Lots of interesting exhibits inside the fort, including many weapons used....More

We visited here on a guided tour. The military history itself is fascinating and the children enjoyed climbing over the old relics (not sure if they were supposed to do that, but no one seemed to mind). Since it sits high, there are great pictures...More

Not a good idea from a museum care standpoint, but they let you climb on and around the historic weapons on site, as well as the fort.

Although weather was atrocious the day we visited enjoyed this tremendously. Good selection of military vehicles (albeit some in poor shape) and guns. Includes an indoor museum which was part of a comprehensive system of military tunnels.

Overlooking the bay (and an Olympic Centre of Excellence for swimming and athletics) this is a nice collection of weapons of WW1, WW2 and the Sixties and well worth a visit.

There are all kinds if weapons, mostly guns, on display here. The casements beneath the large guns have been turned into a museum. I found myself wondering if the guns were ever fired or whether their presence deterred attacks. Climbing up from the embankment is...More

The weapons may not very attractive, but the sea view is very good. A small museum / exhibition is inside there.
