My visit to the icebreaker Lenin was one of the highlights of my Murmansk trip. Unfortunately tours only seem to be in Russian so you don't really get the benefit of a proper description of life on board. On the plus side though it's still...More

Presuming you know what this ship is I'll just review the tour. Ok but not very exciting really. Not a lot too see and it could be almost any ship as the reactor bits are just bits of shiny steel. It is what it is...More

Interesting tour of an old icebreaker bearing the name of Lenin; it is a stately ship. These ships were behemoths to crush the ice, and I do mean large.

It's an ice breaker. Period. It looks quite interesting from the outside, and it might actually be interesting from the inside. However, tours are few and they all seemed to be in Russian.

... for what is is, and for the period detail of the interior (seriously). This ship was built in the '60s, at the height of the Cold War, as part of the peaceful technology race (as opposed to the space race or the missile race)....More

Both tour guides at the Lenin spoke excellent English, perhaps you could ask at your hotel to call about the English tours. We stayed at the Azimut Murmansk and the young woman at reception called for us but, unfortunately... More
