I adore theater and especially the ballet. And Mikhailovsky theater is a truly pearl. It's beautiful building and empire hall inside. Last years Mikhailovsky moved to one of the best stage and especially I'd like to highlight incredible dancers here you can see as Ivan Vasiliev, Leonid Sarafanov, Victor Levedev, Denis Matvienko, Nikolay Tsiscoridze, Ivan Zaitcev, Angelina Vorontsova and many... This teathre is smaller if compared to Mariinsky but definitely more spiritual. I've watched ballet by Nacho Dutton and everything (performance, lighting, costumes) was astonishing. Definitely will be back for Opera.

Russia has such a long history of ballet or opera. If you can find the tickets for Swan lake, go see it. If not, whatever is on the repertoire. During the break the Theater cafe serves delicious cake, sandwiches and drinks. Worth every rubble spent.

Having never previously been to a Ballet, I found this to be a highly entertaining Ballet, perhaps helped by the fact that the story of Swan Lake is so well known. A large ensemble, the ballet was excellent and the large orchestra spot-on. The Theatre was full on our night there, with a lot of Cruise ship excursions block booking... More

I want to watch at least one ballet in Russia because it is famous. Near my flat, I reserve and go to the theatre. I bought a ticket for 500 rubles, 8.6$, I enjoy the high quality of ballet and taste good cappuccino. Have a good night all, I already did :)

We booked our tickets online before leaving Sydney and it was a very simple process; then here we were very excited to see Les Sylphides. We took the opportunity to dress up and were very pleased that we did. We read previous reviews and so arrived in time to have caviar and Prosecco before taking to our seats. Our seats... More

We had the good fortune of visiting in winter so all the best artist were home. We saw the Nutcracker in the old theater. I have to say it was probably the highlight of the holiday for me. If you have the opportunity to go even if you are not that interested in ballet (like me) you will never see... More

The Mikhailovsky is absolutely beautiful. We went into the ticket office of the theatre on the day we wanted to see a performance and were able to buy box tickets for two of us right above the orchestra pit to see the beautiful Swan Lake that evening. Tickets are not cheap, starting at 4000 Rubles, but overall much cheaper and... More

Well worth a visit. Top notch Ballet company performing the classics. Highly recommend getting there early and enjoy the Caviar and champagne at the Buffet. Not a bad seat.

Step back in time and enjoy opera or ballet at this old intimate theatre. Amazing acoustic and very professional artists. Utterly enjoyed Eugene Onegin in a modern almost absurd theatre version.
