A big museum with many rooms from historical moments. In the most of rooms you can use your camera. If you would like to see ethnographic things visit this museum.

It was better than many museums I visited, but boy it is crowded! August is a busy month. I was lucky I got in there with an organized tour and the agency took me in before the museum was opened but on the way out we had to make our way through the crowds. The only bad side that out... More

I have been in few museums around the world. Louvre, National Palace Museum in Taipei and others with rich collections. The Hermitage is impressive for the collection and the architecture of the rooms. Skip the long queue and buy ticket in advance, specially if you have children. They have a special entrance for e-tickets and is very convenient. Map is... More

OK, here we go. I've never seen such place and was totally fascinated by its vast size, the beauty of its architecture and style and the unbelievable number of art pieces there. I'm not an art fun but spending two hours was enough for nothing basically. I think I walked the half of it and saw the 10% of the... More

Although the museum complex has more than 1000 rooms, we did it for less than 2 hours with kids. We knew ecxactly which rooms might be the most impressive for kids, took the map and went directly there, including Malakhitovaya komnata, Grand ball room, etc. Kids were not even tired and very inspired by the interiors and Imperiors lifestyle. Of... More

It goes without saying that The Hermitage has priceless pieces of art, what sets this museum apart from The Met and The Louvre is that the room themselves are pieces of art. Not a surprise given that it is a former palace but wow, you'll find yourself looking at the rooms and hallways as much as the art.

If you are in St. Petersburg and don't plan to visit the Hermitage, just go anywhere else and don't come back. This is one of the most important museums in the world. Beautiful surroundings, too, the very center of the city.

This museum is massive. You could find a variety of paintings by famous painters. I really enjoyed. The entrance of the museum was really impressive.

This museum is one of the largest art collections in the world so you will need a whole day. I went out of peak season and was still amazed at how busy it was, a must see!
