Alexander Nevskiy Lavra is open daily and is free to go in. There is Alexander Nevsky church, the monastery and the cemetery. We walked from Alexander Nevsky metro station.

This cathedral is located in a lovely compound, within a monastery. The building is not very different from many other cathedrals in St. Petersburg, yet we were taken by the beauty of the small gardens surrounding it and even more so, by the old cemetery....More

The monastery is worth a visit but I loved the cemetery with monument for famous artists. Entry is not free.

The Cathedral is in perfect condition. Not as busy as other places in city center (at least in April). It was mainly locals going to church. Interior is quite impressive
