Also in the southern part of St Petersburg as Narva Triumphal Arch, this Moscow Triumphal Gates were erected to commemorate the victory of Russian Army over the Turks in the Russo - Turkish war of 1828. They are located on Moskovsky Prospekt, that leads all the way from the north side of the city, that is, from the Sadovaya Ulitsa(... More

This triumphal arch, which stands on the city's southbound Moskovsky Prospekt, was built between 1834-38 in memory of Russia's victory in the 1828-29 War with Turkey. This is strictly a ride by. The Gate does present an impressive gateway into the Imperial capital. Free

Today it stands in the middle of Moskovskye Avenue, one of the major roads leading to the city centre. The nearest metro station is Moskovskye Vorota;... More

Well the gate is a gate, it is triumphal... without reading a history about this building you would not be interested at all, I honestly do not understand these buildings everywhere, except Rome :D

They are pretty. Not worth a stop since you will usually pass them on the way to and from the airport. The do make a grand entrance to the city.

This sightseen is a sightseen only for Petersburg citizens. The author of this gate tried to made monument as a triumph gate in Paris. But he`s failed!
