This museum has an amazing art collection and really beautifully laid out. Lots to see and some of the best of these artists on show. Would highly recommend to any art enthusiasts. Bit difficult to find entrance but right opposite the square.

Access to this massive complex is included in the ticket for the Hermitage so you cant afford not to miss it. Again be selective otherwise you will be cultured out. The restoration itself is amazing and the French Impressionist paitings are great

This huge collection of impressionist and twentieth century paintings is housed high up in theGeneral staff building. When you enter the building it is rather badly signed and gives no indication of the marvelous collection of paintings which are inside. The general staff building consists...More

The General Staff Building is a complete contrast to the main buildings of the Hermitage. The facade has been retained, but inside is dominated by a completely modern art gallery that is itself beautiful as a work of brutalist architecture. It is less crowded than...More

A really stunning piece of architecture with a history to match - not all nice, unfortunately. If doing a tour, it is worthwhile ensuring you have a good guide who can bring the locations you visit to life. Nowadays it seems, they are freer with...More

I can say nothing about other floors, because, as we planned, we went direct to the 4-th floor and spent there 3 hours. This is an amazing collection of impressionists and post-impressionists. One hardly will find so many Matisse, Sezann and Van Gogh in one...More

A stunning piece of architecture and the place to stand to get pics of the Winter palace through the arch. Spoiled slightly by some tacky street vendor stalls nearby.
