Vyborg is the last city of Russia, before you enter finland. The castle is a 16th century monument. Its around 2-3 hors drive from St Petersburg, worth seeing as a weekend getaway. Dont expect much from the castle. Minor play games are organised for kids in the area behind the castle. The town is nice to go around.

A typical medieval era castle located in small town of Vyborg. It's a must to visit this castle which is surrounded by waters on all side and has a small museum located inside. It has great history and has been part of Swiss, Finland and Russia over all the era's. The watch tower is at a good height and offers... More

We had so much fun climbing the castle! Gorgeous view from the top of it!! It is a must while you are in Vyborg. Old town is great too, needs a lot of reconstruction though.

This beautiful little castle badly needs attention of authorities, and renovation. A few dubious exhibitions are located in these walls, I strongly recommend to buy tickets only for visiting the tower, because everything else is just utter rubbish. The view from the tower is beautiful but the tower itself is in sorrowful state.

It's old and historical fortress. The place is beautiful with a western architecture, but it isn't preserved well, so may be you will feel a little disappointed. But anyway, it's worth to visit this fortress. The highlight of the fortress is the tower in the centre. It takes you only 80 rubs to go inside and climb to the top... More

This unique old castle is wonderful including museum, exhibitions and the tower. Signs and guides are mainly only in Russian. If you going to go top of the tower, prepare to walk all the way. Good shoes for walking are valuable in this place.

Very picturesque town. The castle is the real attraction and terrific views from tower (terrifying! If it's windy lol) go to the park further over the bridge out of town. It takes a couple of hours from SPB on the train from Finland station. Buy your return ticket from machines at the entrance of platform through the back of the... More
