This church is notable for its pseudo-Russian gingercake style, later called Stroganov barocco, authentic and an excellent example of its time, built under Peter the Great by a rich merchant Stroganov, colonisator of Siberia whose pink house is just across the road (next to the Golitsin family mansion today hosting a few restaurants) One of its early visitors a french... This is the place where you can stop. Think. See some more. City with 11 interesting Churches, and with the European atmosphere.

Most beautiful church in the city! And one that is always well-maintained. Walk around the church to see a magnificent bell tower, and perhaps climb the hill to make some stunning photos. Inside the church is very interesting too.

To see that church on a crisp sunny morning is to understand the Russian soul. Located in the middle of a charming street, it's a real gem. The beauty of the bulbs is breathtaking. A must to see. For us it's probably the best site in Nizhni Novgorod.

Such architectures are rarely meet - is the so-called Stroganov style of 17-18 centuries. There is a lot of children insude. The interior is also very unique. We did not want to leave.

It is just to watch and enjoy the architectural style,it`s special and not like the majority of orthodox churches. We could not go inside as we weren`t dressed properly and there was a Service, but it is worth seeing!

The Rozhdestvenskaya church is one of the most beautiful one in Nizhny Novgorod. The legend tells when the church was built, Stroganov (the merchant who gave the order to build the church) was so pleased with the structure so that asked the main builder if he could repeat the same and build another one the same church. The builder said... More
