A wonderful art collection both pictures and wood carvings in a great setting. Art gallery is in an old church requisitioned in soviet times and is now in the process of of going back to the church. It has a really interesting set of old pictures which give a real feel for the personalities and living conditions in the past.... More

This is a lovely little gallery housed in a former cathedral. The amazing altarpiece serves as an amazing backdrop to each of the floors. There's a lot more here than I thought there'd be - all kinds of art from different eras. I really enjoyed the religious pieces on the top floor. The cost is minimal.

This Gallery houses a fine collection of Russian art from all eras and uses the building very well. I believe the building used to be a church and is grand and imposing. Well worth a visit.

It's a small, but decent place with the unique collection of wooden sculptures of Christ. Some pieces of art are really great. Recommend

Housed in an old cathedral, this gallery is quite remarkable. There is a good spread of Russian and non-Russian art across the centuries but the real treat are the wooden sculptures on the top floor. The remains of the cathedral structure inside the gallery are also interesting.

It is an amazing art gallery with plenty of interesting pieces. There are very few famous names but there are two things that make it worth the visit the first one being the building and the second one - the collection of wooden sculpture. The building is that of a former cathedral and it is very peculiar. It doesn't look... More

Varied collection of Russian and western European paintings and sculptures, unique collection of "wooden gods" ....All this is, sadly, undermined by the continuously unsettled case with the local Russian orthodox church, the original owner of the building who wants to reclaim it and the local authorities who acnowledge this right but are very slow in providing an alternative suitable building...
