You need to travel to Akademgorodok from dowtown of Novosibirsk to visit this museum. It is about 25 km ride on taxi, bus or local train. Meseum is very easy to find, it is located just along the main road from Novosibirsk to Akademgorodok. Prices are reasonable, but you need to pay if you want to take pictures with your camera.... Five years ago, a friend from Novosibirsk recommended us to go to this museum. It was closed at the time. This time, it was open. The museum is situated near the academic town, quite some distance from the centre of Novosibirsk. Bus 8 (19 RUR at the time of writing) will take you there from the central (Glavniy) railway station.... More

In truth was disappointed with this railway museum. It is a long way out of town and consists of Russian trains parked outdoors one behind the other. Apart from the trains themselves, no interactive display and no real information available. As a rail enthusiast (we did visit this whilst doing the Trans Siberia across Russia) I was expecting a lot... More

I really enjoyed the visit to this museum. It is a bit of a car drive away but we ordered a taxi. The museum is located in the middle of a forest and a train station. The abandoned Soviet trains are very interesting to see, especially some of the ones used in winter or to process wood etc. You could... More

We had a nice little visit looking at the trains. It isn't a big place and for us it was on the way so it was nice but I wouldn't go out of my way and it is not in town.

So much in the railways is black. Not here. A colourful display of old trains. Just good fun, and you can touch things and climb aboard. What a treat. You need a sunny day, or at least a dry day, as it's all outdoors. It even has a jail carriage, spooky.

This place has an amazing collection of trains and engines which cover the historical periods of train travel in Russia. Try to book in advance and arrange a guide to learn more. Also the museum is open air and about 30 mins outside the city. More than 150 locos and carriages, Don't miss this.

We loved it, but it's advisable to schedule an excursion in advance so that you can learn more. The ticket fee is different for locals and foreigners, so if you have a Russian friend, pls count on their help at the cashier.

It is a good experience! I've never seen such a variety of old trains in one place. This museum offers to try some caragies inside. You'll see medical one and luxury suite, etc. If you have some time in Novosibirsk you should visit this place. PS: there are an excibition of old cars too!
