Eagle monuments have been erected in every resort town of the Caucasus Mineral Waters. But it is in Pyatigorsk that it is special, a symbol of the entire region. The sculptural composition of a snake-tormenting eagle represents the power of mineral water to conquer disease. The Pyatigorsk Eagle is still famous
with a scene from the genius film "12 Chairs" by Leonid Hayday, it is against this sculpture that Ostap Bender orders the leader of the local nobility Kisa Vorobyaninov to go begging.

Official symbol of Caucasian Mineral Waters - The eagle monument - was made in 1901. It is situated on one of the top points of Mount Goryachaya and you will see wonderful view. The eagle itself was stolen couple times and was replaced by a newer statues in 1990-s.

One of the many look-outs around Pyatigorsk's Mashuk mountain. This one is directly above the old mineral water spa region.
The eagle monument is adjacent to it.
Worth the walk to enjoy the view.

I didn't check if all of these are the same, it is the symbol of the local region and I did see at least 3. However, you can get close, they don't seem to have been vandalised, and I'm using my photo on my profile!
Not good access for anyone with mobility restrictions, mostly steps, and a lot of them.
The view over Pyatigorsk is worth the climb.

Nice, but you can't expect much of the symbol. Just a statue, accessible for photos and close reach.

Even though some of the stairs are old, you can will enjoy the walk there. With a good view of the city. You can also climb higher past the eagle to see another view of the other city part.

It was a lovely walk towards the eagle. It is located right in the park. Fresh air and a smell of sulphur makes it memorable :)

The most visited sculpture (despite the difficult climb) in the city and probably the most famous, it is the image of this eagle that is found on all magnets, plates and paintings. From here you have wonderful views of the city.
