Большая парадная лестница начинается у Входной площади и заканчивается у Зала Воинской Славы на площади Скорби. На лестнице ровно 200 ступеней, по количеству дней, сколько продолжалась Сталинградская битва. Из них более 135 дней заняли бои за стратегически важную высоту - Мамаев курган.
Широкая лестница проходит через Аллею пирамидальных тополей, площадь Стоявших насмерть, Стены-руины и площадь Героев.
Поднимаясь по лестнице словно окунаешься в те, непростые для Родины дни. 200 ступеней мужества и непомерного героизма советских воинов.

Большая парадная лестница на Мамаевом кургане ведет на второй уровень ансамбля Мамаева кургана. Поднимаясь над Входной площадью на 10метров, она плавно переходит в длинную, постепенно поднимающуюся аллею пирамидальных тополей.
