We combined this museum with Yuexui Park as it was across the freeway. I took my 3 and 6 year old there. The 6 year old was especially interested. There are several different exhibits before you actually her to the Nanyue King exhibit, which is located at the rear of the museum. I suggest starting with the main Nanyue King... More

One of China's major archealogical discoveries, the tomb of Nanyue King Zhao Mo was only discovered in 1983. Another must see. Well preserved and presented. Explanations only in Chinese but the pamphlet is also in English.

I worked in Guangzhou for four weeks in October and November 2016. The Nanyue King Museum is worth a visit and very interesting. You can cover Guangxiao Temple, Temple of the Six Banyan Trees, Dr. Sun Yatsen Memorial Hall and the Nanyue King Museum by walking during a 3-4 hour visit to the old part of Guangzhou. The museum is... More

The Museum of the Western Han Dynasty is at the site of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King. This the oldest and largest of the Han Dynasty tombs and was found about 20 meters below the ground surface and discovered during excavation for a new building. Bright minds recognized the significance of the site and preserved it by building a... More

Before this visit I did not know much about the Kings of southern China. The museum contains the relics found in king Zhao Mo's tomb, discovered in 1983. The museum is well laid out to tell the story, with information in Chinese and English. I joined the free conducted tour but this was in Chinese and, as the guide spoke... More

We explored the original tomb to view the architecture, then visited the exhibition hall for the relics unearthed here and this province. It is an amazing place to learn the local history with only CNY12 for the entrance fee.
