Newly built temple complex at historical place

Everything is new. Nothing much to see inside but it is a place where local conduct their prayers. It is free of charge and very close to Muslim quarter.

If oyu are in the area, of course go and see this attraction, however I would not say to take a special tour into this temple as there are so many others that are equal to, or better to see along your trips

Xi'an City God Temple, the construction of the most magnificent. . Here compared to other popular attractions in Xi'an, where people should be less, but also free of charge. . Inside the exquisite Taoist building is worth a visit. . If you have time, or can go in and see. .

This structure looked just like every other chinese building in Xi'an. The tour guide explained what it is, but because we were so hurried, there was not enough time to appreciate all that.

This temple is a short walk from the drum tower and not really worth seeing. The managers have turned it into a cheesy tourist site. There are information boards plastered on every building. Unauthentic Chinese lanterns are also strung about. It looks as if they have put stereotypical Chinese ornaments up all over the place to attract more tourists. Instead,... More

Before the Cultural Revolution, most cities had a City God Temple. City Gods were originally responsible for the moats and walls of a city, but over time, also became in charge of the cities' dead. This one is mostly restored and is pretty impressive. Unlike most of the other City God temples in China, you cannot take photos inside, which... More

This is not far from the Drum tower and the Muslim Quarter, the Temple is free to enter and is well maintained and presented as has been rebuilt. I recommend this for a short visit.

City God temples were important back in the day, this was one of the three most important (Beijing and Nanjing being the other two). Severely damaged by the Japanese invaders in WW2 and abandoned during the cultural revolution, this temple is a survivor, Beautifully restored, free to visit, and within an easy walk of the bell tower this temple is...
