Only legend can explain why this bridge is named Broken Bridge as the bridge is not actually broken. Once there was a magic white snake that lived in the lake. She eventually turned herself into a lady and fell in love with a handsome man. They lived happily for many years until one fateful night when a mean and magic... More

The bridge is just a bridge, nothing special except for you to actually walk on it. It provides a nice view of XiHu but anywhere else can also provide such a view. Nice from far but far from nice. Do come here if you have the time.

The place is too crowded and very difficult to enjoy a peaceful lake view. Better try to research when is the off-peak season before you go.

This is one of the best ten scenic spots in West Lake. Broken bridge with thawing snow did not meant that the bridge was broken. Just use our imagination that when snow thawed on the bridge, as viewed from above, the silvery colour on top of the bridge looked as if it was broken into parts. The bridge located at... More

Before we go to visit Broken Bridge, we take it granted that this bridge is broken when seeing its name. Actually Broken Bridge with Thawing Snow doesn’t mean the bridge is broken and we appreciate the snow on the Broken Bridge. It’s a view that when we see this Bridge from a far and high angle, the bridge is outstanding,... More

The story goes something like this: At certain (extremely rare) times during winter, when the bridge is covered in snow, because of the slope of the bridge, and angle from which the sunlight hits it in the mornings, the snow on one side is molten leaving a black road, while the other side is still covered thickly with white snow.... This bridge has a very romantic and beautiful story so most of the chinese have special feeling about this bridge. Try to go there avoid public holiday, or you only see the huge amount of people there which make you only uncomfortable, and you can't enjoy the nice view through the bridge. If you lucky go there snowing day, you... More

Duan Bridge (or Broken bridge) is a very nice bridge at the beginning of the Bai causeway. It has a lovely aesthetic arch and is a symbol of Hangzhou. It is much better enjoyed from a distance since you can't fully appreciate it from up close and the throngs of Chinese tourists on it definitely detract from the experience. It... More
