We took the bus there from the JR Sapporo station and it was a nice short ride about 12 minutes. Check the schedule ahead of time so you don't waste time waiting for the next bus. Once you arrive you can immediately see the splendor...More

The Historical Village is an open area with reconstructed as well as replica buildings. Some have staff members either role-playing or giving guided tours, and some have displays and mannequins. The Town section seems more vibrant as the buildings are clustered together and there is...More

The buildings in the village come with a past - they were brought in from other places. The village itself is pretty large, so give yourself more time to look around.

The volunteers were so charming and the sturdy white pony pulled the tram without grumbling, a great range of architectural styles and an insight into every day lift

Even though not much to see but still it's an interesting place to go, just to know the historical of Hokkaido.

A nice place to visit in Sapporo regardless of the weather. Its easy to visit and you can have the combination ticket for the park and the museum. It can eat your whole day since the park is huge and the museum is also interesting.

The Hokkaido Historical Village is a nice place to visit... it's a walk back in history to see the changing architectural phase of the houses. Went to the "dormitory" that housed 60 fishermen and you envision how they lived back then... we we even treated...More

Wandering through an open area of displayed buildings from all over Hokkaido, we loved the charm and authenticity of the four sections: fishing village, farm village, town, and mountain village. Each building has signs explaining in both English and Japanese. You are able to enter...More

Do you have to pay EVERY TIME for the sleigh / horse ride? Or can you pay just one ticket for the ride and use the ticket the whole day?

I don't know. However, I think most people only use the transport once to get back to the main square after they have walked the main road of the village.
