Hokkaido shrine is located in Maruyama Park, a 10-minutes’ walk from Maruyama station. Good architecture, and the surrounding is very tranquil, peaceful. A nice place to visit and to see Japanese culture. We witnessed a traditional wedding ceremony going on when we were there.

Try to be there early! I was there about 0730L, not much people, but shortly after 8am start to have big tour group arriving. It's a very lovely and beautiful Shrine. Worth dropping by for a visit. Omamori (Japanese Amulet) are also sold here.

A beautiful, old, forest surrounds the main entrance of the shrine and it is a peaceful place. Lots of people buy the Hello Kitty amulet as a souvenir.

Out of the Sapporo city, It's a good break to feel the peace and trying a Japanese pray in a traditional temple. Make sure to leave time for a leisure walk in Maruyama Park too : )
