Like any other shrine in Japan, but this one has a lot of things to see. Despite the common thing we know about the Shrine, the shrine is beautifully built and the environment is peacefully.

Please prepare to take a long walk. Zoo is next to it. Holiday had extremely huge amount of people visiting there. Can try cutting across this the park from subway to the shrine. Amulet for sale are available

A beautiful shrine in the midst of a large park in Sapporo. It is a very peaceful environment. I even got married there, many years ago to my Japanese wife.

This is our 3rd shrine and it is really special. Many Japanese can be seen coming here for prayers and blessings for infants and children, so culturally, it has an authentic feel. Lots of beautiful spots around the shrine and it is within a park. Spend time exploring the vicinity and you might be surprised by the number of animals... More

This shrine is found in the Maruyama park so you need to walk about 15 minutes into the park to get there. It's a small shrine so go only if you like visiting shrines. There is a little souvenir shop which sells good luck charms but no place for food, drinks or a resting stop. It takes only about 30... More

This place became must-see list, because biggest shrine in Hokkaido. I went in early November, and snowing just started. The outlook of shrine is great with snowing. You can observe the local cultures. It was Cultural Day of Japan. A lot of parents brought their kids with nice transitional dress.

Unlike those famous shrines that are always packed with tourist, the shrine is quiet and peaceful. When we were there, there is some religious ceremony going on, and we got to see the shrine maidens dressing in their traditional attire, it's really an amazing experience!

A great place to see Japanese culture, however not as big as I imagined. And they are selling Japanese plum wine and Sakura tea that were made in shirine. Really nice as a gift/souvenir.
