Too lazy to walk up the hill therefore took the orange circular maple bus (free using the 3 days small area pass) and got off outside of the side entrance to the museum. Special exhibitions hosted at this moment reflecting War through art. Works done...More

A beautifully creative museum. I attended the special exhibit: Binding Threads-The Art of Creating "Between-ness." There were several pieces displaying the thinness and lightness of cloth created....some pieces were gossamer-like...and just shimmered....others used the weaving of the materials combined with special dyes to special affect....More

A mediocre and relaxing museum. Adult admission was ¥370, without the main exhibition. Most likely requires no more than one hour to see all of the working great detail. A little bit difficult to reach due to its location set at the top of the...More

It's a steep walk to get here with some nice views, but permanent collection is currently closed - didn't bother with temp exhibition which is scale models of the city.

We got lucky as there was a great exhibition on while we there, the manga and paintings by Tiger Tateishi and Yuchi Yokohama. Our teenage children loved these works. It was also a lovely stroll up the hill to the museum, with Autumn leaves still...More

The main reason to come is to look down from the elevation and see Hiroshima city and wonder at the devastation last century. The building is good, but the location is dreadful for it. No vantage to truly observe it. Reasonable collection. Doesn't blow your...More

Some of the work is inspired by the A-Bomb. Otherwise, seeing Warhol Campbell mushroom soup tins in Hiroshima seems a bit pointless to me. The Le Courbusier (spelling?) models of buildings were interesting for my architect-father in law. Could have easily missed it.

We were attracted by a special exhibition ("The world is strange: the manga and paintings of Tiger Tateishi and Yuchi Yokohama") which was outstanding. The exhibits from the museum's regular collection were also excellent. This is one of the most accessible and enjoyable modern art...More

First of all, they have a nice sculpture garden, and it is very serene & peaceful. Their permanent collection is quite interesting, and I caught an exhibit by a Vietnamese artist that was great. The museum is easily accessible by the hop-on, hop-off bus.
