The way this place is lighted makes it so much more impressive at dusk than it is at daytime (and yeah - it is even easy to miss during daytime) And helps a lot if you know Japanese since there's a lot of text on...More

As we approached Peace Park I noticed that most people head to the Museum or Park and miss the gates totally as they are across the busy road. As they blend into the trees they are not overly conspicuous, but are definitely worth the minute...More

Once you have visited the Peace Gardens etc. it easy to think that is it but just over the road there is the the Gates of Peace. Once you have got over the busy road you find the gates which you can walk through.

It is located across the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Was expecting the park to be big so it can be confusing. I would recommend to start from here and move forward to the museum, Cenotaph etc.

The gates aligned and seen during the day is good but I do think around sunset? The view is better :)

Don't miss this exhibit at the far end of the Peace Gardens. Worth a look . Very beautiful and simplistic in style yet so meaningful.

Ten gate like structures stretching 75 metres inscribed with the word "Peace" in 49 languages. Nine gates represent Dante's Circles of Hell and the 10th gate represents the living hell of Nuclear War. An impressive structure just across the roadway from the Hiroshima Peace Museum.

An interesting sculpture on the opposite side of the road from the museum at the entrance to the Park. The sculpture depicts Dante's 9 gates of hell, overwritten by peace in multiple languages, to which a 10th gate has been added representing the hell of...More
