Pleasant Stop
Jun 2019 • Solo
This was once a Kimono Shop before the Atom Bomb was dropped but is now avery friendly, helpful tourist office and sells snacks. It's a pleasant place to sit and contemplate as it is right by the Children's Monument and Peace Bell.

Interesting place
Mar 2019 • Couples
This had been a kimono shop at the time of the bombing. Even though it is close to the epicentre of the blast, one person, who had been in the basement at the time, survived. The basement has been kept as it was after the bomb. The upper floor is now a tourist information centre.

Nice Place to "Rest" and Buy Souvenirs
Oct 2017 • Solo
A Rest House in Japan is a nice place to visit when you've been out all day. This former shop now houses souvenirs, snacks, has free Wi-Fi, and I found the clerks to be very helpful when I was looking for the Post Office. Also, on a warm day it's nice to step out of the sun for a while and cool off.

Beautiful old building

Housed in an old building which used to be a Kimono shop at the time of the atomic bombing. It is now the tourist information centre. You can obtain informing on sightseeing around Hiroshima and the surrounding areas here.

Excellent excellent help!

Highly recommended! So different than every other information centre we have been to since we arrived in Japan almost two weeks ago! I do realise we don't speak Japanese, but it has been difficult finding out about accommodation options before we arrived here. The man at the counter couldn't do enough to help us, answered our 1001 questions, and made sure we are fully prepared with accommodation and maps for the Inland Sea (Setouchi Shimanami Bike Ride)! He helped us book a ryokan for mid-way on our cycle, as well as finding out about bike hire availability and luggage transfer! On top of all the out of town information, all the friendly staff were also great resources regarding the local sites! This information centre is worth its weight in gold, three times! Thank you Hiroshima for your wonderful rest area and competent, friendly employees.

Useful stop to gain an insight into the area
May 2016 • Couples
This building, located only a short distance from the hypercentre of the blast suffered much like the other buildings in the area, all personnel above ground were killed instantly, however a man in the basement at the time survived. The building subsequently remodeled now serves as a tourist information centre and souvenir shop.

Poilte and Efficient
Nov 2015
This rest house is based toward the bottom of the Peace Park. Staff were very friendly and polite - plenty of range for food and around 4 or 5 different vending machines for hot and cold drinks. You can purchase a couple of souvenirs here, but it is more of a small food/ snack outlet. Well priced items and efficient service also.
